Title: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on August 11, 2005, 05:11:31 PM We've had the thread in the reference desk for the past 4 years but it's getting too difficult to find a vet in it. So, we have added a new resource to the site! From the main goosemoose home page http://www.goosemoose.com , or under resources at the top of this page, click on the Vet Directory.
It is set up like a Yellow Pages with specific questions for Vets. I have added all the countries that I know we have forum members from. If your country isn't listed please put it in the "Other" cateogry and I will create the country and move your listing there. We'd like it if EVERYONE would please take 3 minutes and go post your vets information. This information is critical to our site as most newbies show up here when they need help and the vet references is the most important part of that aspect. I'm most interested in your feedback, good or bad. Let me know by posting in this thread when you have posted a vet so I can approve it asap. Thanks everyone! Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on August 11, 2005, 06:20:02 PM Note: You might need to log off and back on before you can post a listing.

Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on August 11, 2005, 10:26:19 PM I have to approve it before it appears :) Otherwise we will get some moron listing Seymour Butts V.M.D.

Post by: Goosemoose on August 12, 2005, 03:13:10 PM Looking great people! We have 24 vets listed today already, and we have US and Canada vets. Keep it going :)
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on August 13, 2005, 12:19:38 AM Up to 32 now :) I switched things around so that it sorts by Clinic name rather than vet name. It just wasn't working well the other way around as some people didn't know the vets name ;)
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: ruthiechan on August 15, 2005, 02:28:05 AM Bumpity bumpbumpbump.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on August 15, 2005, 12:11:28 PM Good job guys. Up to 47 listings.
Something I forgot to mention before. When you pick the category it's going to be in, which is usually a state. You can actually choose multiple states. If your vet is near another state (say within an hour drive), please hold down your ctrl key and select both states. Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Dori on September 28, 2006, 07:52:14 PM I took my two boys to my local vet who treats my cats, but he didn't seem to know anything about rats and gave me advice I later found out was incorrect. Can I list him under "incompetent rat vets"?
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on September 28, 2006, 10:20:44 PM Lol, sorry we won't start that list so we don't get sued! But make sure to list the good rat vet once you find one.

Colony Animal Hospital 13187 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23602 (757) 877-6464 http://www.colonyvet.com/ dr. piske is the greatest! He cares for a lot of animals and will do everything he can to help out. ^_^v I've given him challenges from a hamster with an extrememly rare blood disorder that the odds are around 1 in 1 million hamsters may have or show they have to a mouse that I thought was a baby rattie that suffered from a very bad fall to a rattie that had strep throat and my other rattie with allergies to everything. He is very gentle with the animals and they always take to him right away. I have yet to see an animal fight with him, especially after he talks to them a bit. :) Highly, highly recommended! Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on February 23, 2007, 02:34:22 AM I might need to upgrade, I'll check it out. Thanks for letting me know.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on February 23, 2007, 11:27:57 PM Let me know if it works now, I've upgraded it and changed a few things.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: hamsterluv on March 01, 2007, 07:56:42 PM still not working. I also found in another vet directory type post someone posted another vet from my area in VA Beach.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on April 09, 2007, 08:09:03 PM What happens when you try it? They won't appear right away until I manually approve them.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: brakbill on April 24, 2007, 01:20:33 PM i posted a vet for killeen, texas, united states.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Saydrah on April 25, 2007, 03:18:18 PM I will add my regular rat vet, who does a great job on the basics, but I've never (thank goodness) had to have a ratty go in for surgery- I want to neuter two of my pet boys and maybe spay one girl as I continue on my quest to start a small, responsible rattery (I would like Algernon to live with the girls, and Beauregard free ranges almost all the time when I'm home and I'm concerned about horizontal tangoing through bars), so I'm in search of a vet in Colorado who comes highly recommended for neuters/spays. Beauregard is my heart rat, and I'm super nervous! If anyone has a rat vet in CO who has done neuters for them with lots of success, please please add them and maybe PM me to let me know?
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Lise on April 26, 2007, 05:10:10 PM I tried to add my vet quite some time ago... and thought I finally got it. But still not there. Did it not work goosemoose?
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: dopaMEAN on May 06, 2007, 06:13:44 PM I just posted my vet out here in Az, Dr. Driggers.
He really is amazing, and is the cheapest exotic vet I've ever seen! Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on May 06, 2007, 06:31:02 PM Lise, it worked, I'm just a bit behind on approving the vets. I have about 10 in the queue to be approved.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: BlueFrog on June 08, 2007, 07:33:26 PM I just added four for Illinois (all of which are reasonably accessible from WI): Animal 911, Arlington Heights A.H., Vernon Hills A.H., and Chicago Exotics A.H.
The Powers That Be probably know this already, but I'll mention it in case this is a bug in need of fixing. The first page of the Vet Directory indicates there are (0) listings for the United States. If I saw that and didn't already know from this thread that there really were listings, I never would have clicked through to find them. Is there any way to either remove the erroneous number, or get the database to count accurately? Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: JR1030 on June 08, 2007, 07:45:53 PM I had no idea this was up there in the resource section! I just added my vet in Hamilton, NJ.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: MsMagpie on June 10, 2007, 12:10:26 PM I tried to post mine. It said I had to log in, so I did, then it let me fill out all the info, then it said I had to log in again, which I did and then it gave me a blank form. Did my info even make it to the queue?
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on June 14, 2007, 03:23:56 AM Yeah I just need to sit down for an hour and go over the php to find the problem with the code. Unfortunately it's going to be a few weeks till I have some time.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Joy_of_Rats on June 18, 2007, 04:49:31 AM It appeared to work for me! I added my vet, she's WONDERFUL! I feel bad that I still owe her money... :-[
Pacific Veterinary Center (310) 791-5123 Maria Castiglione, DVM "Dr. Maria" 23629 Hawthorne Blvd Torrance CA 90505 Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Vibrissa on June 25, 2007, 11:07:02 AM I would have posted if there had been a "Reply" button on the thread for posting vets:
City/State (or Province): St. Louis, Missouri Vet's Name: Dr. Jay King, DVM Clinic/Hospital Name: Watson Road Veterinary Clinic Address: 3725 Watson Road, St. Louis, MO 63109 Phone Number: 314-644-1544 Web Site: (if applicable) http://stlouis.citysearch.com/profile/34844876/st_louis_mo/king_jay_dvm_watson_road_veterinary_clinic.html E-mail: (if applicable) Comments: Is wonderful with rats. Doesn't charge much as he wants people to take their pets (rats for certain) to the vet and have them cared for. He gets us in (even when we had never been there and had a rattie emergency) right away if needed. Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Goosemoose on June 26, 2007, 02:18:01 AM That thread is no longer in use. You add vets by going to Resources -> Vet Directory.
Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: disneylandia on July 04, 2007, 09:01:52 PM For some reason I still can't log in to post my vets, so hopefully you can update them for me. I can highly recommend ALL of these vets for treatment of rats, but our families first choice is always our beloved Dr. Cecil.
1) Dr. Todd Cecil Pet Emergency & Specialty Center 5232 Jackson Drive, Suites 102-105 La Mesa, CA 91941 619-462-4800 http://www.pescsandiego.com/ourStaff5.php 2) Dr. Carmine Bausone & Dr. Gary Gallerstein Acacia Animal Health center 655 W. Citracado Pkwy Escondido, CA 92025 760-745-8115 http://www.aahc.us/ 3) Dr. Jeffrey Jenkins Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital 2317 Hotel Circle South, Suite C San Diego, California 92108-3310 619-260-1412 http://www.drexotic.com/index.html (1) Dr Cecil practices at the 24 hour urgent care center, so he is on call for consultations if the attending vet has questions. (3) The Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital is on the top floor of a 24 hour urgent care center (VCA), so there is a rat vet on call for consultations. Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: gr8dane on February 24, 2008, 08:08:06 PM I added my vet from Littleton, Colorado in the appropriate place (Resources) and it hasn't been added. The only one there is Alameda East Vet.
Please, if I did something wrong I will be happy to re-submit as my vet is awesome with rats and is a very willing listener. I directed her to this site and she often pops in...loves the site and feels half of you could do her job (as far as rats go) :cheeky:. I can be reached at info@creative-worksinc.com if there's anything I need to do. Thanks. Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: Evie on April 01, 2008, 04:56:20 PM I can't seem to log in to add my info... but here's the vet I use.
Cambrige Veterinary 1724 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, MA 02138 617.661.6255 They also have another location in Alston-Brighton that the vet alternates between. The doc here will see rats and I thought he was very thorough and caring. Prices are what one would expect and not completely outrageous. Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Title: Re: *NEW* Vet Directory PLEASE HELP! Post by: cheerio on July 09, 2008, 09:57:25 AM Sorry, saw that the vet thread was locked and wanted to ensure that there was a vet listed in my local area for the rattie lovers here not to have to make a pretty extensive drive. Hope it helps!
Va Beach, VA Dr. Brian Watson Sajo Veterinary Hospital Sajo Farm Veterinary Hospital 1094 Diamond Springs Road Virginia Beach, VA 23455 757-464-6009 http://www.sajofarmvet.com/Templates/ContentPages/Clinic_Info/OurStaff.aspx Dr. Watson is great with my little guys. Very friendly and a fantastic bedside manner. He was very reassuring to me as a new rattie lover, and the vet techs there are all wonderful (although I often have to steal my ratties back from them since they love them so much). I have not worked with Dr. Ladell, however, I understand she also has quite a bit of small animal experience, and is the resident exotics vet on the team. They are a little pricey, $65 just for an exam, but very knowledgeable. Highly recommended!!! |
