Title: Sweet special needs boy in Cincinnati, OH needs a good home Post by: Kimmiekins on June 18, 2007, 04:00:22 AM London is about 7 months old and is a real sweetheart. He is a fawn hooded. He's a bit shy, and used to be extremely skittish, but has changed a lot while he's been at RLR. He used to scream when picked up, but hasn't in a while. Sometimes, he'll squeak a protest quietly, but generally doesn't.
He does need some time and understanding from his new parents. He needs to go to an experienced rat owner with others males. London has been alone since arriving here, and he wants some pals to cozy up to and play with. He's a real sweetheart and with lots of time and effort, may overcome his problems. He's already come so far, and we know he has the potential to be less shy and more outgoing with the proper TLC. He doesn't take well to change, so please keep that in mind... The first few days in a new home might be hard on him. Once settled, he'd do well if the cage was in an area where people often are... He loves to see what's going on. He does not bite and is not aggressive. He likes shoulders, and loves to run in a wheel! He's not too fond of cameras ("those flashy thingies") and has a sixth sense as to when one is about to take his picture. He can be picked up without trouble, and kinda will play with you if he's up for it. He's not so scared anymore. He's nowhere near a cuddle boy (yet?) but does tolerate some petting. He's not at all aggressive (although we do make sure not to touch him through the bars of the cage... he has occasionally lurched for any fingers outside the cage). He's so sweet and stares at me through the bars, pleading me to find him a loving family with other rats. He's not screamed in awhile now. I do think he might revert just a bit when he's settling into a new home but he does amazingly well with time and patience. I think having other rat buds will make things even better and easier. It's pretty amazing for a 7 month old little guy! He likes things neat and likes to rearrange to fit HIS needs. :) He's gained a bit of weight and doesn't look so skinny anymore. We are being a bit picky on finding the right home for this boy, but will consider everyone. This is a case where you need to fit with him, but we very much want this sweetheart to find a forever home with the right people!
