Title: Do rats ever bleed when in heat?
Post by: amymckee on May 14, 2008, 10:49:52 PM
Cricket (hairless) is bleeding a little bit. It's not because she's in heat, is it? I've never seen this before, but I can't think of any reason why she'd be bleeding from that area.

No, rat's don't bleed from their vagina unless there's an infection or tumor.  She needs to see a vet ASAP.  :(

Ah, ok, thanks. She could use a trip to the vet anyway... she started sniffling just a few days ago, and I need to get her healthy before I go on vacation in three weeks!

Rats bleeding from their vagina is generally indication of a serious problem. I'd get your baby into vet ASAP.

Good luck!
