Title: Two dumbo dark cap boys still need a home :)
Post by: Ratlovingkippy06 on May 30, 2008, 10:12:01 PM
For those who have not been here, i had a offer to take in more than 10 rats from a breeder who basically happen to have snakes.. I was not about take in some odd number over 10 with females that were heavly pregant also included it would have been nuts and unrealistic especally since i have 14 of my own rats and 7-10 fosters in my  care getting ready to be sent to there new homes. The rats are all dumbo, a few dumbo rex blue and rex dumbos.  There are over 5 litters being born or have been born from this group, sadly the breeder did not split up male and females so almost all females are having babies. Here is the response i got from T when i emailed her to find out who was still left.

"Dear Kayte,

I received seven females (six of them visible pregnant) and two adult males, all housed together, on Saturday. Of those, the two males and four of the females have already found homes, though of course their owners will have babies to adopt out later. The remaining three females are here. One of those is giving birth as I type this message. The other two are so heavily pregnant that I do not plan to move them. I will be adopting out the babies for all three rex litters litters, PLUS the ten day old litter I currently have on hand. "

As you can see the only rats left are all ready to have their babies if you live close by and have experience or want to gain experience of caring for a litter and adopting out the babies please let me know.

Thanks for helping out and i will keep you posted as i get information, Also if anyone wants to donate any extra cages or just about anything to help us out that would be great.

Is the agouti rex a male?

I should have a spare cage for a pair if you need a foster and were willing to get out to Rockford again.

Though, I have to  warn you that I have an intense soft-spot for rexes.     So I can't guarantee one or two wouldn't end up staying.  :P  Any idea on their handleability/personalities?  (Just hit me up with more info.)

I would like to know if you could find out. Would also like to know their general disposition and handability. I'm kind of considering adoption but unsure. I've always loved agouti rexes and the dumbo is an extra bonus <3 he/she is just adorable but I like to stick to one sex for safety reason and have all males.

I don't understand this:
"these are from a breeder who normally breeds for food but also sells her babies as pets. She charges $15 per a rat to make sure they don't go as food."

She usually breeds feeders but when she gets the pretty ones charges more? Aren't buying these rats supporting this breeder? How is it different than rescuing feeders or buying from pet shops? Once you take in and find homes for the 10 rats ($150?) won't she just breed more and sell them as feeders and pets?

I was wondering the same thing.  Why would you want to give this person your money?  Just to get some "pretty" rats?  She's just going to turn around and use that money to breed a bunch more rats to replace any you buy from her, and make a tidy profit from it as well.   ???

This is a breeder that is in the process of downsizing.   The grandfather buck just passed pushing 5 yrs old.  He was her favorite and she is devastated.  His son has one of the best temperaments that I've ever met.  She happens to have snakes that she is also in the process of rehoming.  It's not a matter of selling and planning to replace.  It's giving these former breeder stock and some babes a chance to leave her as a pet rather than food.  If you'd met them, you'd see that while they are stunning, it's the overall temperament of each and every one that grabs me.  This is all, of course, my own personal opinion from my personal experience of meeting them and the person that bred them.   Yes, she says she breeds for temperament, health, longevity seems to be on her side, and I know there's more involved, and while she seems very knowledgeable, I'm just a regular person who loves rats and seeing the results and liking them.   Hope this helps to explain.

I don't believe it's possible to breed for temperament, health, longevity, etc. when you're breeding for snake food (and breeding high whites and odd-eyes, as well).. it's just not possible if you're eliminating any of your offspring, whether some actually go as pets and live a long time or not.  I don't personally agree with giving this "breeder" a bunch of money. :angry2:  Even if you "like her results."  If she does want them to go as pets and is stopping breeding, why is it a matter of "give me x amount of money or else these rats will be food"?

At any rate, just be aware of potential issues with megacolon, as several of those rats are high-white (and odd-eye).  Particularly if there are babies.

For those who do want to adopt. The rats have been remove from the breeder and are staying with 3 different people so that no one had to take on 10 rats at once or more.  Personally i have 3 babies, 2/3 may already have homes, i will get an update on how the others are doing soon i have a dumbo rex female blaze face who is 5-6 weeks old ( very small), she is living with a sister and sligtly older female  very happy and running in her wheel. Please let me know if anyone wants to know more about the pictures at the top of  tread.

THanks

I got a blue rex dumbo girl from this group who had been living with males and is more than likely pregnant, but not showing yet.  I'm sure babies will arrive soon enough though.

The agouti rex is a female but i am stilll getting things together. I only have 5 and all of mine have homes but i am working on getting a list together so that i know who is male and female because I didn't even know myself but from what i have seen here they are good rats i mean i have them for maybe 2 days so they don't really trust me yet. Good personality, good health, LOVE wheels lol..

I will post a  list of who is left with pictures when i can, the rats have been split between at least 3 different people and Bluefrog or lori said that there were at least 2 females who are pregnant, Topaz has one and i will have to get more information on the other girls. The babies are small i think they are 5-6 weeks old. Thank you for everyones help and i will keep you updated.

nevadamoon  just PM she has two blaze face blue females ( Dumbo/Rex) who are pregnant so there will be plenty of babies after the "adults" who if they are anything like the adult i received are maybe 3-4 months old.. i also have a possible pregnancy on my hands. I am glad we were able to work together and get these rats out of harms way, Thank you again for everyone helping out :)

Minor correction.  :)  I actually have the standard-coated dumbo masked girl (Quinn) and then one of the Dumbo agouti's.

These two:

I can't speak for everyone, Ratlove, but in my case, these 2 mamas are definitely going to have permanent homes with me.  (Of course, the babies that are going to be here very soon will be up for adoption.)

SD is a long way from here and that kind of trip would not be healthy for a female who could be in labor at any moment, i would just wait till the babies come and see if there are a few you like and maybe than get a train  together but for right now lets just wait and see.
Would everyone rather have all the litters post here as they are born or have a separate thread for each litter?

so that is 6 litters ! okay there will be plenty of babies to go around .. Just let me know if anyone wants to adopt i think at least i will go around and get pictures of each litter as they are born with their mama and than maybe have each litter split off into different post so everyone isn't confused or we can save space and have everyone post here, Its up to the people who want to adopt and the foster mom;s The rats took in already have homes.  I am just trying to organize this.

4 babies from Quinn, it looks like.  It is looking like this group just doesn't have large litters, (So far) word I got was that one of the other moms only had 3 bubs.  Hopefully we can get some kind of confirmation from the original owner/breeder, which will certainly ease my worrying mind.   :yelcutelaugh:

No sign yet that Gabby is getting close, and while she has a belly, she's not really HUGE yet.  Quinn started doubling in size towards the last 3-4 days it seems, so we'll have to see if Gabby follows the same pattern.  Depending how that goes, maybe have her bubs in a week, otherwise a bit longer.

Also, I'll probably be able to transport some of mine to Iowa, at least to the western part.  I have family in Des Moines I've been meaning to visit, so if there are any interested parties near there I can probably work the timing out to coincide.  I can also distribute south of Rockford, especially the Dekalb and similar area.  I'd rather not go all the way south to Morris, but I've been there before, too, and it's somewhat feasible.

I now have a gorgeous American blue high white blazed Berkshire dumbo rex doe (try saying that three times fast!) available. I believe she's also odd-eyed, with one ruby eye that's so dark it's hard to tell from black. She seems mellow although a touch shy, but because of her pregnancy, I did not handle her much. My camera is currently being repaired so I don't have pictures yet, but I assure you she is a stunner.

I can not stress enough that it is essential she go to a non-breeding home. She produced a very small litter, had no instinct to keep the bubs warm or fed, and finally the stress induced her to kill her offspring. Physically she appears fine, but I will be keeping a close eye on her for the next few days.

I also have a lovely high white agouti berk dumbo girl with three babies. All four will be available at the appropriate time. There is an agouti capped with headspot, an agouti split cap, and the world's most mouthwatering black variberk. These should also go to non-breeding homes. Mom has sorta kinda managed to figure out how to care for her offspring, but was pretty baffled by the squeakies (didn't seem stressed, just really confused and took quite a while to figure things out) and isn't the world's most attentive caregiver though she has improved with time. This picture was taken about a week before she gave birth:

There's also a third pregnant doe from this group at my house. She's getting chunkier by the day, but no bubs yet. Apparently her maternal instinct is so strong that in the past she has stolen other does' babies to raise as her own, and was used as a foster mom to a newborn mouse! Her last litter contained at least six, including the odd-eyed baby that Ratty Krazy just got from LoriV.

Secondhand word from the breeder is that these tiny litters we're seeing aren't normal. The bubs themselves seem healthy, just not many of them. I'm really hoping my final preggo girl proves to be the super mom she's been billed as.

Now, if that's not enough bubs for ya, I have a nice baker's dozen that turned two weeks old today who were born to the ultimate super mom! She had barely four days to settle in before giving birth, but she has been such a spookily perfect matron that she could star in a 1950's sitcom. Don't let her thumb-sucking habit fool ya - this one's a natural born mother:

These bubs have been extremely precocious, probably in part because mom's given them so much milk and attention. All are little kings and queens of the world - just ask them! I have reservations for a few (on a "first pick, second pick" basis - I prefer to let rats pick their people in realspace rather than have people pick rats in cyberspace) but there will be plenty more looking for homes when they're old enough.

Gabby had 2 stillborn babies tonight.  At least, I'll assume they were stillborn, because the one that I took out that was whole had no marks whatsoever on it's body, and she was attempting to clean it/get it to nurse.  Gabby herself isn't up for adoption- I'd already decided to give her a home and there's no reason to change that now.

Quinn's bubs have started to get some markings finally.  2 high white, 2 that are either self or berk, one with a blaze.  At least, that's what I'm assuming.  They all could be boys, or 1 could be a girl.  Once I have a better idea of colors/genders I'll start figuring out how I'll do adoptions.  (You know, assuming I don't fall in love with them and keep all 4. ::) )

Hi! :)

I am looking to adopt a pair of baby dumbo ratties. We have had rats before and would love a pair of males this time, if possible.

Are there any babies currently available for adoption? We live in the Crystal Lake, IL area (northwest Chicago suburbs) and are willing to drive or meet halfway to pick up the babies.

Thank you! Smiley

We're expecting babies to be born by Wed.  Joon's belly got really big over the past couple days, but still has some expanding to do, IMO.

Here's the last pic of her before her belly blew up

Dragonfly23, all of the bubs in those photos have pert little top ears, but all three of the bubs in my other litter are dumbos, one of whom is a rex. Much too young to reliably sex, but hang in there .... There will be dumbos!

Sooooo, any of those pretty fawn/beige hoods a boy?    :cheeky:   What about the one with the adorable headspot?

Quinn's bubs are staying at the 2 male/ 2 female ratio.  2 girls - One that's either a beige or a blue self, and one that's.. well, who knows?  Blue and white, splotchy back, and she's getting a really mismarked mask.  The boys, one is a blue berk with an awesome blaze, the other is a beige (?) splotchy, but I can't tell if he has a mask or if he is blazed.  They're all doing great- the runt is small, but he's feisty, so I'm pretty sure he's going to make it.  The self girl, on the other hand, is MASSIVELY large.  :P  All are dumbo it seems, as well.

uh oh!  we're vying for the same baby!    :BlueDumboSmileTongue:

They're all so adorable though.  For me it comes down to temperament/outgoing nature, but gosh... it'd be really awesome if the headspot bub was both a male AND a proper gentleman!  I may have to play my free cages card!  :yelcutelaugh:

;D You guys are funny! Trust me, there are going to be plenty of fawn and beige bubs to go around! Besides, where's the love for the darklings?  Darklings need love too! :puppy_dog_eyes:

I didn't write down who appeared to be what gender when I looked, but I believe all the bubs with large headspots were girls.

Perhaps.  If the rex is available, I'd rather have that one, but I believe Tim still has his eyes for a fawn berk.

BlueFrog, is there a chance we could come out to visit the Dumbo Trio when they are old enough to adopt? We're looking to take a pair (because no rattie should be alone) and would prefer males, but females would be ok too.

Nevadamoon, please could we come visit too when the four are a bit older?

We're looking to adopt within the next two weeks because my sister is home from college and can help me socialize them. :)

Whoops, thought I said all that in my rex/dumbo/standard ratio up there.  Looks like 6 boys and 4 girls now.  Day before yesterday I thought it was split down the middle with 5 boys and 5 girls, but yesterday proved me wrong.  These babies will be drop dead gorgeous when their fur comes in

Updated pictures of mine.  The runt I'll probably keep, hoping he makes it but today he's being weaker then he was this morning.  The splotchy girl I have someone in mind for, but if she gets much cuter it's going to be hard to pry her away from me.   :yelcutelaugh:  Haven't really had any interest in either the self girl (who's my favorite) or the blaze boy.  (Not that I'm going to complain, because honestly I have no issue with keeping them.   :yelcutelaugh: )

Thank you for the adorable pictures  They are very very cute.

We are interested in both of the boys: the runt and his bigger brother. We do understand that there might be complications with the runt, but we would still like to adopt him, if possible, to give him our love and attention. About when do you expect them to be ready to leave mommy?

What town are you located near?

dragonfly_26-  I don't really mean to sound offensive, so please take this with a grain of salt.  I just really don't feel comfortable adopting out the runt-boy, and frankly I'm pretty attached to him.  :P  So I really don't consider him up for adoption.

We're located in Rockford.  They'll be 4 weeks on July 5th, and.. I haven't really put much thought as to when they'll be available for adoption.  Around then, I guess? :P

Oh!Rats!-  I don't think anyone (Especially me!) wants to know how many I have.   :yelcutelaugh:  Somehow, more rats keep getting pushed into my path.   Geez, good thing I don't have many hobbies?  I have rats as a job.  (Oh, and that 2 year old thing..)   :yelcutelaugh:   But I'm pretty much at my limit, barring emergency type situations, until I get some more large cages to combine my girls into.   As long as no one's killing each other, reproducing, and has space, I really am trying to not count.

They are so cute though! And not even showing a whole lot of personality yet.  This next week is going to be FUN.  Will probably make me thankful I only had a litter of 4, but will be fun nonetheless.   :yelcutelaugh:

We are keeping 1 girl and 1 boy so far...I kept them out of the pictures  :BlueDumboSmileTongue:

Colors keep changing.  I've heard they're mink/mink dilutes.

Also, it's kind of funny, because I never really liked the Pink-eyed ness.  Now I see all these cute PEWs around and go "Awwwww.... one of those would be pretty cute..."  My husband made fun of me for it.   :yelcutelaugh:  "I thought you didn't like those?"  "...well, now I do."

I'm pretty sure she's beige.  She's never had any of the bluish/grayish/minkish tones they others have gotten.  I don't know if she's going to get lighter, or be a 'dark beige' or what.

I'm keeping the runt for sure, and I have someone in mind for the cap-stripe girl.  Blaze boy is available, and so is the self girl.  Just waiting for the right homes for them so I can keep up to date on how they're doing, otherwise I'm tempted to just keep them.   :yelcutelaugh:

Edit:  Also, self-girl is no longer a self-girl.  No idea what the 'technical' name is, but she now has little white paws, and a white triangle on her upper chest (Irish?) and then a line that goes straight down from it.   Depending on what personality she shows, I may end up keeping her as she's always been a favorite of mine, but it's not as certain as I am on keeping the runt.

My apologies to all of those who are writing me about the availability dates for the bubs and not hearing from me. Between a massive rescue train run, even more massive car repair bills, and general mayhem, I'm not keeping ahead of stuff.

Gaia's bubs will be available in about two weeks. I may let those who will be staying local go a little sooner than later, because these critters are on the extra-robust side. The dumbo babies will be ready about a week after that. Looks like two boys (one of each color) and a girl, but do NOT quote me on that yet. They are the cutest, widest little bubs.

NevadaMoon, be very, very careful about expressing a desire for a certain color or pattern anywhere I can read it. A PEW, eh?  :cheeky:

Also, your former self girl sounds like an English-Irish.

NevadaMoon, no offense taken :) My sister really liked the runt's markings and wanted me to ask. Anyway, we would definitely like to take the blaze male.

BlueFrog, since we don't want any rattie to be alone, we would also like to take at least one of your dumbo males, possibly both if the blaze male from Nevada's litter won't get along with your bubs. Either way, we are thrilled to be giving two dumbo males a happy and healthy home :)

We live in Crystal Lake, IL so I believe we are local to you?

Thank you!!!

Okay, good.  :)  I didn't want to feel rude about it.  :P     I'll have to write up some questions and PM/email you so I can get an idea of caging/diet/etc and ease my mind a bit more (gosh, you'd think I was adopting a child)  and I do want it to be that if you do adopt him and ever can't keep him, he gets back to me.  (And lots of pictures?   :puppy_dog_eyes:  Frequently?)

We're in Rockford, and new to IL so I have no idea where Crystal Lake is.  I see BlueFrog fairly regularly, so when the time comes, if need be I can probably bug her to transport him for me once it's closer.    :poke:  Can't imagine there'd be a reason why he wouldn't get along with her bubs.  :P

I also don't really know 100% if he is a dumbo.  I'm pretty sure he is, but I don't know.  Sometimes some of the bubs' ears look like the point up?  I'm awful at this.   :yelcutelaugh:

Those 3 babies are teasing me with their lack of pigment!  I want to see some PEW!   :yelcutelaugh:   Though, I think you could go ahead and mark me down for one of the light-colored boys, as I'm sure one of them is going to end up suckering me in.   ::)

I'll get new pictures of Quinn's babies soon, but I think I'm going to end up keeping the beige girl as I'm getting much too attached to her chubby face, so the only one that's really 'adoptable' is the blaze.

"All this fi-ting ova wittle ol me?"

If your babies were closer, Julz, I'd want one. :P  But while I will be in Baltimore in August (kinda close to you?), I don't think they let you take rats on plans.   :yelcutelaugh:

I'll be sending it to you once he's a bit older (probably by the time he's 3 weeks) so you can know a bit better of his personality before making the final commitment to him, as well as figuring out if you'll be able to find a boy to go along with him, which I'm sure will be easy.  He does seem the most reserved out of the group, but since his eyes just opened.. that could be why.  (You do get first dibs on him, though, as the first to express interest, so don't worry that I'll give him to someone else!)  Also, one of his sisters keeps biting everyone else's tails, and I still have a few weeks to cuddle him yet to maybe bring him out of his shell.  :P

Unfortunately, the cage fits two comfortably. We DO have a smaller second cage for quarantines, but it's too small for two ratties. We wish we could have more, but the parents say ONE CAGE IS ENOUGH  The way you're describing him, I doubt we'll have any problems with him, but if we do of course you could have him back. :)

So, BlueFrog, you say you have squishy friends?

Bad news for nevadamoon -
The light eyes are NOT PEWs.  They're some kind of extremely light blue-ish color...variberks, too!  Very pretty, and very rexy.  Will get new pics up tonight.  The darker bubs are looking like a very dark blue.

Absolutely fabulous! She's a little lighter than the really dark "blues", but still looking very blue.  I'm thinking the girl I'm keeping is a powder blue compared to the darks (slate blue,)  But this is all theory right now, 'til their fur comes in. I"ll get new pics of everyone tonight.

Oh well, it was a long shot to expect PEW anyway.   :BlueDumboSmileTongue:  You can still mark me down as interested for one of the light boys.   :thumbsup2:  Once there's some personality involved in them, I'll be able to narrow down which.  (You know, assuming I don't just randomly decide that one of the other boys is more fitting personality-wise.)

nevadamoon - You may have first choice over the faux pew boys.

We decided to only keep one male and one female (not pictured in any offered for adoption.)  So far we have 3 people, including nevadamoon, interested in boys, and only Oh!RAts! has a girl reserved.  All others are still up for grabs.

I'm in WI as well  :)

There are two females left for the choosing.  Both look to be a very dark blue, dumbo rex.  They both pretty much look the same.  If you're interested in adopting one, shoot me an email at: fuglyzombie_101@yahoo.com and I'll send you the application.

Update on my babies (I'll get pictures later.):

Starting to eat solid food, and playing, and they're just generally adorable.  The blaze ran into the nest holding a piece of food, and sat there eating it with his front paws. They've all be wrestling around, too.  I had thought one of them was bi-eyed.. can't figure out WHO it was.  They all look to have ruby eyes now, of various shades.  (The beigish girl has dark ruby, look black, the cap stripe has ruby, one on the left looks darker then the other, the boys both have fairly  brightish ruby eyes.)

They were initially a bit startled of me, but once you pick them up, they start cuddling and exploring.  They've even been bruxing and licking my hands. (Mmm, that's what a hooman tastes like..)  The blaze rat isn't as reserved as he was before, but the cap stripe is still the terrorizer of the group.   I've been calling her Chomper, though it's not a 'ladylike' name. ::)  Works better then "Hey you, stop torturing your sister/brother/mother!"

It starts at his nose and goes up the side of his head.  You can only see it in sunlight.  Not sure if he'll keep it or if it'll molt out of him.

That leaves 3 male rats to be spoken for.  I have one person left to choose her one or two babies, then I'll post which one(s) are left.

I showed my boyfriend the pics of the two girls that I reserved, and he was like whats that? lol I was like that's our babies! He was like oh.... and he smiled.  He may not show it often, but he LOVES my rats, and my roommates rats as well.  She has just recently bought 3 with her boyfriend (2 are his, and the other one is hers) and because they are so little, my boyfriend walks past the cage everytime and says "baby rats!" so cute like! lol I don't know if they are babies necessarily, but he seems to think so because they are the smallest that we have.  It's so cute, and makes me giggle everytime he does it!

Just a quick update...there are TWO boys left.  One is a dark blue rex dumbo English Irish and the other is a faux pew (probably beige,) dumbo rex WITH A BLAZE!  There were TWO faux pew's with blazes!  These two are not reserved, but it's up to the last adopter to choose if she wants one or both of them.  So consider them on hold, not reserved.

Hi Topaz,
We just sent our application to you by email :) Sorry for the delay, I've been away from the Internet for about 2 days straight. It's good to be back!

Nevadamoon, how is our boy doing? Do you have any updated photos? Also, when do you expect him to be ready for pick-up?

All the babies are doing great, and are 3 weeks old today.  Right now, they're all pretty sweet, but they won't hold still long as they have so much to explore.  Very chubby, too.   :yelcutelaugh:  The capstripe girl is the craziest of the bunch- climbs EVERYTHING and is just generally a terror to her siblings.  The beige girl isn't quite as daredevilish, but is being pretty sweet and is usually the one found under mama.  (I have no idea why she's the fattest one....)  The blaze boy is doing great, too.  He isn't as reserved as he first was, but isn't as crazy as his sisters.  He's also the one who loves eating 'real food' the most.  Columbus (The run) is doing well too, just smaaalll.  I'm starting babyfood this week for everyone (Quinn's been getting it during her solo time).  The babies (Particularly the beige girl and the blaze) are showing an aptitude for litter training and have been pooing in the corner mom does.  So I'm going to put a litterbox there, and hopefully they'll learn to use it. :P

Since they're only 3 weeks old, there's still a bit of time before they're ready to go home.  (And I really do swear that I'll get the adoption form out soon!)

I have tons of photos, I just haven't been good with updating them.  These are mostly from this morning, but I had to use the flash so the color's a little funky.  Once the sun's higher the room will get brighter and not blur everytime the move.

Proof of how shameless she is:
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee299/ohmaibobby/quinnbubs/058-2.jpg
The blaze boy kept trying to nurse on Quinn (Who was eating) and Quinn kept not really trying to stop him, but making it hard for him to.  So he grabbed a piece of food, and ran off.  However, Ms. Beige girl just kind of.. shoved her way under.

Yep, there will be new pictures tonight.  It looks like most everyone's ears are opened up, and they're all doing well. I was worried that the runt (my keeper girl,) wasn't going to make it there for a while.  She's still truckin', but a day behind everyone else in their development.  Joon is being a very protective mom.  New pics later tonight.

Apart from not eating as much solids as everyone else, my runt was about even with development.  Eyes opening, and walking around anyway.  He's JUST now starting to put weight on, and is still under half the size of everyone else.  It's probably kind of rare to be that way for a runt though, I don't know.  Really, I can't even count the times I didnt' even think he'd make it, and he's still going.  :)

Are there any young males left? I have a friend who adopted " buddy" he was the hooded black and white guy with a spot on his back. She asked me to look for a young male to introduce as a buddy. I told her from the start to look for a friend when he settles in. She runs an adoption for rabbits and Guinea pigs through her home and is full at this time but i thought by the time the babies are ready to leave mom she may have room for the new boy. I asked about color and all that she wants is a lay back, loving little male. I will also talk to her about possibly getting two since they are so much younger.

Thanks

Kayte

Aww, what cute little guys!    I believe you on the blaze, don't worry. :P  Geez, look how long it was for the beige girl in my litter to get her markings.  Hers literally appeared overnight- I'd had no sign of any kind of lightening on her chest until -poof- it appeared.  Secretly, I think how cute it would be if she developed a mask like her momma's, but I'm sure it won't happen.  She's a lot like Quinn as it is, so it's pretty cute.

I think they look like a very light beige.  The flash washes out the color.

Thanks for more great pics and for taking such great care of them!

What CUTE babies!   (But I'm still happy I only had 4.   :BlueDumboSmileTongue: )

Quinn's bubs are going to be 4 weeks old Saturday.  They're all SO OUTGOING, too.  New pictures will be up today.  It's a busy day, but I need to take new pictures.  (The runt is starting to thrive, I think. Fingers crossed, anyway.  He's been putting on weight, but all over and not just in the belly.)  The other 3 are just fat.  ::)  Really fat.  Shameless little guys are still nursing off Quinn every chance they get (and she doesn't really stop them) AND munching any solid food you get near them.

I love these babies    I really want a little dumbo baby girl.  I think once this litter is gone I'm going to be going on a dumbo hunt :) They are 4 weeks old today and mom is definately weaning them.  The only time she nurses is when they all attack and once and she has no choice :yelcutelaugh:  Besides that she runs as soon as anyone tries to nurse!  Good luck everyone with your babies.  Enjoy, they are adorable!

Got home a few hours ago with a pair of BlueFrog's beautiful babies!

2 little boys, both currently staring at me from their quarantine cage and looking rather apprehensive about my hawaiian shirt.  :yelcutelaugh:
I shall have pictures once they're settled in a bit better and more willing to come explore.

These two are from Gaia's litter, and BOY are they big dudes!  they're just about as big right now as my three girls are, and they're almost six months old.  I hope they get to be huge squishy gentlemen.

Cheers!

Hopefully we'll have new pictures for everyone tonight, and may be able to start setting up dates and times for late next week/early week after.  Basically, I'm thinking anytime after the 17th for them to go to their new homes.

I'll have to see what my schedule's like as I'm going out of town that weekend.  I may have to leave Friday night, and be back by Monday.

Quinn was separated from her babies, and now that they can't sit there and nurse all day they should hopefully.. grow out of the blimp-like proportions they're now at.  (Girls are going back in with Quinn in the big-girl cage in another day or so.  Sad thing is, I think I have girls twice their age that are only a bit larger then them.)

Getting good pictures of them is getting harder and harder. :P They zip all over the place, but when you hold them they'll hold still.. for a bit.  The blaze guy is still the most reserved, with the 2 girls being about even for being outgoing.  The beige girl (I named her Nina) has Quinn's exact sweet personality.  Columbus is probably the least social of them all, and even he's opened up and is becoming very sweet.  (And growing!)

Oh, I know!  He's finally putting weight on, and still growing too, so I'm pretty happy.  I don't think he's going to be a 'normal' rat, but he's acting normal, and even though he's so TINY compared to the other babies, I think he'll be around for a bit.  I hope so, anyway.

Those light guys may not be PEW's, but they sure look like it.  I don't know if I can tell which one is mine.. I think the one on the right (in the bottom picture) since the one on the left looks like it has a real light blaze in between his eyes?

I really hope your litter keeps doing well, especially after what has happened with Quinn's litter.   :-\

All babies are on reserve.  I already have one other person next in line for a dumbo male if someone falls through.

For those adopting from Joon's litter:
If you live over an hour away and want to meet half way to get your babies, we will need a little extra to help with gas money.  Otherwise, everyone is welcome to pick up at our home, or meet in Janesville, WI, Beloit, WI, South Beloit, IL and MAYBE Rockford without an extra gas fee.  I wanted to post this here so that all adopters could see this, as keeping up with so many individual emails and explaining the same thing can be tiresome.

So, adopters, please email me with your ideal place, date, and time as my schedule is pretty flexible, and we'll go from there. It must be after the 17th of this month to make sure the babies are ready to go.
