Title: Baby food! Post by: TankGirl9008 on June 02, 2008, 12:04:18 AM Has anyone else gotten "Earth's Best" baby food? I just got some for the first time and it's amazing! The ingredients in the sweet potato kind are "oganic sweet potatoes, water", the apples and blueberries kind "organic apples, organic blueberries, ascorbic acid (vitamin C)", and the vegetable turkey dinner kind "water, organic apples, organic carrots, mechanically separated organic turkey, organic whole barley flour". I gave the girls some of the turkey kind and they LOOOVED it! They're still bruxing!!!
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: WS on June 02, 2008, 01:42:26 AM I use Earth's Best Baby food as a supplement for my underweight or sick rats who need to be hand fed :thumbsup2:
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: JustJenna on June 02, 2008, 01:56:28 PM Love the Earth's Best. It actually smells like food, unlike some of the other brands.
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: Evie on June 02, 2008, 01:58:05 PM Yup! My girls loooooove the sweet potatoes!
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: coeurfragile on June 03, 2008, 01:31:39 AM Does it matter what "stage" of baby food you buy? I got the "1st stage" type when I bought some, because I wasn't sure.
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: TankGirl9008 on June 03, 2008, 03:06:58 AM I don't think it matters, but I could be wrong! I got the "2nd stage" because there were more flavors
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: myscratchcat on June 03, 2008, 08:41:40 AM I got the 2nd stage also.. it has more texture to it, not as runny.
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: baschlais on June 03, 2008, 10:04:35 AM Thank you for sharing this name brand!! I tried Gerbers Turkey baby food once (only once). I actually gagged when I opened the bottle. The rats would have nothing to do with it and even the cats wouldn't touch it. I don't blame them. Yuck. I'll have to try Earth's Best. Thanks again!
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: TankGirl9008 on June 04, 2008, 05:29:40 PM :thumbsup2: Of course! It's really awesome that they don't add any weird crap to it! My mom said it's the kind she used to feed me! :BlueDumboSmileTongue:
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: Cassy on June 05, 2008, 12:21:50 AM I get it too ;D the ratties looove it esp sweet pea my one ratty climbs across the cage ceiling waiting for me to fill his "treat" bowl ::) Its cheap and it smells like real food. I got some chicken squash something they just love too :) Any flavor ideas?? I'm running out! :poke: they like sweet pea, sweet potato, banana and the veggie chicken one... Do they like any of the berry ones? apples? the weird oatmeal ones lol. :hyper:
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: anita1216 on June 05, 2008, 05:09:05 PM My boys love all flavors of Earths Best...especially the oatmeal ones!
Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: MiniMuffin on June 05, 2008, 05:40:42 PM Earth's best is what I used too. I got the 1st stage because the jars were smaller (even with giving some to the birds, I can't really get through a jar in 3 days!).
I'd never bought baby food before then, I didn't know other brands had other things (then just the food pureed up and water) until I was reading on here! At least there are still good brands! Title: Re: Baby food! But they tend not to like fruit anyway. Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: Kati33 on June 05, 2008, 09:28:45 PM Quote I got the 1st stage because the jars were smaller (even with giving some to the birds, I can't really get through a jar in 3 days!). When I had my crested gecko that ate baby food, I froze it into a Jello jelly bean mold, transferred the frozen "beans" into a ziplock and just set it out to thaw (they are so small it only took a couple minutes to thaw). You could do the same for the rats. Title: Re: Baby food! I was doing the same thing as Minimuffin - buying the small ones, or throwing away quite a bit because I don't use a whole jar in three days. I love the idea of freezing! Awesome! Where do you get a Jello Jelly Bean mold? Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: Kati33 on June 06, 2008, 11:30:55 AM Quote Where do you get a Jello Jelly Bean mold? Jello sells them here (http://jellostore.archway.com/KraftCornerEStore/product_bean_mold.seam;jsessionid=F81FCE69C8BFF41548FEFA612D9D20FF?cid=35286). I'm sure you could also find them at garage sales and on Ebay and stuff. The frozen baby food doesn't stay good forever, so I'd only do it with the leftover portion of a freshly opened jar rather than stocking up on frozen baby food. Title: Re: Baby food! Title: Re: Baby food! Post by: mandycoot on June 06, 2008, 11:42:42 AM Yup, Earth's Best is great! I try to feed my rats organic whenever possible. :)
Also check out Happy Baby (http://www.happybabyfood.com/) frozen baby foods. They come in a pack of 12 frozen cubes of baby food, and you can just pop one out and reheat! More environmentally friendly and less waste if you don't go through a whole jar. :) |
