Title: No bruxing?? :( Post by: Ratatouie on June 25, 2008, 06:55:26 PM is this wierd? I have had Remmie (my newest addition-a 7wk old male berkie)for 4 days now and not once has he bruxed. He is getting very friendly towards me and is now taking food from my open hand but never really squeeks when he plays. He plays amazingly well with Bandit and has met 'Touie and likes her as well but no bruxing..he has licked my fingers a few times and seems happy but its still troubling me. Maybe he is just a quiet ratty?
Title: Re: No bruxing?? :( Post by: ilovemylittleangels on June 25, 2008, 10:10:15 PM I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've had my two girls - Pixie and Mishka - for 6 weeks now and Pixie only started bruxing yesterday. They're 10 weeks old now but I haven't heard a sound from Mishka yet. (other than squeaking during the wrestle matches!) They're both happy little ratties, they'll run onto my hand or up to my shoulder for treats and they both love to snuggle up my sleeve for hours. They get along like a house on fire. Each rat is different so while one rat may brux, say, within a week, others could take longer. Sounds like little Remmie's warming up to you though, so just continue with what you're doing and I'm sure he'll be bruxing soon. Good luck!!
Title: Re: No bruxing?? :( Post by: nevadamoon on June 26, 2008, 01:55:20 AM Some rats just seem to do it more then others. I have some that brux NONSTOP (Hence why one is named Gabby- she looks like she's always Gabbing! :P) and even the little babies that aren't even 3 weeks yet will brux sometimes. But I have some who just don't do it as much. It's likely he could just be quiet, or he may just need more time to really start feeling content while you're handling him.
(And- eep! You introduced him to your girl rat? ) Title: Re: No bruxing?? :( Post by: Ratatouie on June 26, 2008, 11:00:35 PM ok thanks i was starting to wonder...

Title: Re: No bruxing?? :( Post by: Addicted2Rats on July 16, 2008, 12:23:19 AM "Bruxing" is when rats grind their teeth together. It occurs when a rat is very content and relaxed but it can also happen when a rat is under stress and/or in pain.
