Title: Cages made from furniture question
Post by: AmyJean on June 27, 2008, 09:51:19 PM
Hi, I was looking at the great cages made from furniture and I was wondering how you seal the wood so the ratties do not eat/stink up the wood? Also does anyone have a pattern or design they followed to make theirs?  I have an old clothing chest I was thinking of making a cage from it.  Thank you. :wink5: :wink5:

There are many ways to seal a cage made from wood, kilz helps, along with stick-on linoleum tiles, and melamine(sp?) board, which is wood with heavy duty plastic on top.  Good Luck!

I used linonium self stick on squares in mine. The rats have a tendency of trying to rip them up though lol. I made sure I bought more than I needed though as I had a feeling they would. You might want to use the roll stuff and stick it on yourself That might make it a bit easier overall but hey rats will be rats  :yelcutelaugh:.
