Title: RIP Sweet Kiyone 27 Jan 2007-5 July 2008 Post by: Kita on July 05, 2008, 11:44:13 AM We had to have Kiyone PTS this morning :'(. She's been very difficult about taking her meds lately and yesterday she wasn't eating or drinking anything at all. She's always been a dainty eater, but she's never turned her nose up at food. Her breathing got more and more labored as the day went on; with it being July 4th, our vet was closed. We figured she'd be able to make it through the night and we would take her into our vet this morning, rather than take her to the e-vet.
I sat with her for part of the morning, until we had to leave for the vet. She gave me kisses, then just laid on my lap. Even though we did everything we could (all the different meds, the Ensure and baby food, until she was diagnosed with CHF, and everything after that) and the vet even said there was nothing else we could do, I still feel like we didn't do enough for her. I haven't been able to stop crying - every time I think about her, I start crying again. I just hope her sister will be okay; she has other cagemates, but I still worry that she's going to be depressed with her sister gone. We'll miss you so much. Title: Re: RIP Sweet Kiyone 27 Jan 2007-5 July 2008 Post by: momerath42 on July 05, 2008, 11:49:17 AM So sorry for the loss of your pretty Kiyone

with CHF there's not too much hope and you did the right thing. your kiyone is breathing easily now. she's playing happily at the bridge probably giving lessons on how to eat like a lady. yes her sister probably will be depressed, give her and her cagemates boost and special treats together. do not be surprised if there's more fighting in the first few weeks. good luck and i hope your heart heals soon Title: Re: RIP Sweet Kiyone 27 Jan 2007-5 July 2008 Post by: lilspaz68 on July 05, 2008, 11:58:22 AM I am sorry Kita, what a lovely lady she was.
CHF can be managed sometimes but more times often than not (as you know) its a losing battle. You did the right thing letting her go and she is now breathing easily and thanking you for that release. Still sucks for us left behind ((hugs)) :'( Title: Re: RIP Sweet Kiyone 27 Jan 2007-5 July 2008 Post by: JR1030 on July 05, 2008, 02:33:52 PM I'm so sorry Kiyone had to go...but she went with dignity and love.
