A couple days ago I saw an ad on tv for Yogurt Melts by Gerbers.  They are freeze-dried yogurt.  I was in Wal-Mart today.  As I passed the baby section, I happened to look over and there they were.  I snagged a bag of mixed berry flavor.  My boys love them.   :BlueDumboSmile:

How much sugar to they have?

I was curious too so I googled...

"One serving of Gerber Graduates Yogurt Melts, which is ¼ cup, contains 30 calories and no fat. There is one gram of protein and 4 grams of sugar.

The ingredient list includes cultured milk, sugar, fruit puree (varies depending on the variety chosen), vegetable and fruit juice, dry milk, and a few binders. There is nothing artificial (sweeteners or flavors) and the yogurt used in this product contains live and active cultures. There are also no preservatives in the product."

Well, at least sugar is the second ingredient, not the first. Personally, I wouldn't feed it to my kids or my rats. But if you're going to feed your rats (or kids) yogies, this is better. And probably a little cheaper.

That sounds fine to me. When I made Suebee's mix, I remember reading the recommended sugar content you should stick to per serving on cereal is 6 grams of sugar or less.

Considering that you can have up to 6 grams of sugar per serving cereal, which in the Suebee's mix is a big part of a rat's staple diet, I see no harm in feeding something with less sugar as a treat.

As well, they are fat free, which is better than a lot of yoghurt drops which have palm oil in them. (High in saturated fat)

I bought some of those the other day, thinking they would be great...I tried one, and it got really gummy in my mouth, and It was sticky and gross.  That makes me leary of giving it to my rats, let alone a baby like it was made for.

Either way, my girls didn't like them,  ::) They're super picky

I got the strawberry ones for my boys a while back and they love them! I tried some and thought they were tasty too! However, they only get 1-2 each a couple times a week.

I buy these instead of Yogies, and my girls love them. They perfer the mixed berry flavor. Of course, they only get one or 2 a week.

As another option for tasty rat treats from Gerber, I just bought a thing of Gerber "Graduates Finger Food Peach Puffs". They also come in apple, apple strawberry, banana, cherry, sweet potato, and corn flavors.

The puffs are made from rice wheat, and oats. They are really little and have only 2 grams of sugar per serving. Real fruit/vegetables in them.

My rats LOOVE them. I gave them one each, and they snatched them and ate them in about two seconds flat. Then I went back a few hours later and showed them the can. The minute they smelled them, they were literally shoving each other over trying to get into position to get the first one!

You would swear they have crack in them or something... :rattysmiley:

I agree, those puffs are awesome! The boys love those as much as yogies. Gerber also has the freeze-dried fruit bits, but those aren't as popular with my guys.
