Title: Chewing electrical cords?
Post by: BSP17 on October 07, 2008, 09:42:08 PM
So, I let my three girls on my bed for their playtime. I went into the kitchen to make some food and grab them some treats then came back in. (Five - ten minutes gone)

Well, I came back in and Banana didn't come running. (Usually all three of them come running whenever I'm near) I lifted up the blankets and she wasn't there. So I checked under my pillow and there she was chewing on the cord to my phone charger! :shocked2:  I completely forgot to move it. She chewed some of the smaller wires apart, but doesn't seem to be hurt or anything.

Should I be worried?

I would definitely be concerned about the cord chewing, and try not to forget about that wire.  Something else to remember is that you shouldn't leave your rats alone when there are potential hazards, such as electrical wires.

I've had several close calls with wires - yikes it scares the daylights outta me every single time. I second the above, don't forget about that wire! In fact, I recommend getting some plastic tubing or something to cover every single inch of cord in the room your rats are in and remove everything that isn't needed... better safe than sorry and replacing cords is expensive!

Okay, thanks guys! This is honestly the first time that I've forgotten about that cord since I've had them (around three months). I think I'm just going to move the charger over to my desk so something like this doesn't happen again!
