We have reservations at a nearby organic vegan restaurant. I'm very excited - the menu sounds amazing.

We're going to stuff our pieholes at the local Chinese Buffet (nothing says love like crab rangoon and General chicken!), and then pick up a 6-pack from a local brewery.  I got my husband a card. 

I'll be working 3p-11p, and he will be working 9p-7a. Yeah, maybe I'll say hi when he crawls into bed and I roll over to make room. :)

I seriously, seriously doubt my husband is planning anything. lol

I think we're going shopping for a new mattress, and I do mean that in the least romantic way possible.

I gave my BF his present a week early. I just couldn't wait and it's not like we really care about the day itself.

I'm sick, so we're post-poning his present to me (going out to dinner). So tomorrow will probably be sleeping, homework, watching tv... nothing special.

I got my hubby a :heart: shaped box of See's Candy, a musical card and we're going to play poker tonight with a bunch of friends.  We're going out to dinner on Sunday, I think, since he's got Monday off from work.    Oh, and I decided to hire a gardener type guy to start taking over all the yardwork!  I told my hubby that it is his Valentine's gift.  Definitely a gift that keeps on giving!

I'm excited I get to get my hair cut tomorrow... is that sad?  It is the first time in over a year that I'm actually going somewhere to get it done - I usually do it myself.  Then I'm going to go home and twirl around for the ratties  :yelcutelaugh:  My mother and I are going out to dinner Sunday night to celebrate.  Neither of us have boyfriends.

My husband got me a difusser/tart burner because I say all the tarts being bought from etsy on the board and wanted to join in. I bought my husband a pack of some board games that he loves; mancala, backgammon, cribbage, chess, chinese checkers, etc... now he won't stop asking me to play games!

He wanted to get reservations at some fancy restaurant for tomorrow, but I talked him into making me a fancy dinner and spending a romantic evening at home instead with a bottle of wine (aren't I crazy?). :)

I will likely give my s.o. his gift later next week.  I got him a new hammock for when the weather starts getting warmer in a few weeks.

On vday we will be en route to L'Anse in the u.p. of Michigan for my grandfather's funeral.  He passed away last night after 64 years with my grandmother, the love of his life.  :heart:

Emily, I'm so sorry.  The good news is you probably won't get snowbound up there! 

Nope! I'd much rather spend the evening at home with Boyfriend, even not doing anything special, than do the whole fancy restaurant thing on such a busy holiday.

As for what we're really doing, I work 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, and then he's a limo driver so I'm sure he'll be working all evening, taking couples to those fancy restaurants, so I won't even get to see him. I really like Valentines Day for the cute factor and all of the pink red heartyness, but Boyfriend and I enjoy our union everyday(even on the days when we fight like we're fifty) and I don't really need a holiday to celebrate that.

Hubby and I are in San Diego spending the weekend with my recently widowed uncle. We didn't want him to be alone for his first solo Valentine's day in 52 years. Tomorrow we're all going out to dinner, but other than that we'll be playing it by ear.

Hubby and I always keep Thursday nights as our "date night." We don't answer the phone, never make plans with anyone, and just have one night that's only for eachother. That means more to us than Valentine's day, so this year we'll probably just skip it and next Thursday will be a little more extravagant.

I know my bf didn't plan anything. It's our anniversary too. We'll probably just spend the day together.

Gosh, maybe I am high maintenance but I fully expect to celebrate Valentine's Day. :) I enjoy it. And, the restaurant that we are going to is not upscale and fancy. It is a very intimate "mom and pop" type deal. Seating was very limited. I cannot stand to be around lots of people on a romantic relaxing day.

Ryan and I are celebrating Vday out to dinner tonight. He also put aside money for me to go to clothes shopping.

I bet you 10 bucks he will ask me if I want to go to Chili's tonight  :yelcutelaugh:! Him and my Dad love that place. My step mother and I roll our eyes every time we end up in the parking lot there (thanks, Dad!) because non of us can decide on a place  :P.

I am SICK, boyfriendless, and have to go to work tomorrow.  I am going to have a splendid day.

Tonight my family and I are going to a nice restaraunt because it's my parent's anniversary. Then on Valentines day, I'll be working.

The mister and I used to give each other cards and maybe some candy. But that's kinda drifted away. We just don't see the need to participate. That said, we'll probably go for a nice lunch at Milestone's tomorrow. Dinner time would be way too crazy.

My girlfriend is the kitchen manager at one of those nice restaurants, so she'll be gone all day tomorrow, from 9:30am until god only knows when...at least 10 pm.  But I've never been a big Valentine's kind of person.  Low maintenance in that way, which is probably a relief as I'm terribly high maintenance in every other way possible...

I probably won't be doing anything.  My boyfriend claims that Friday the 13th is the luckiest day for him but Saturday the 14th is a horrible day for him..lol..He was on the phone with his friend and I think they made plans for Saturday so I'll probably be staying home with my dog.  I'll buy a 6 pack or something.  I know I'm not getting a gift from him but that is okay as I'm not buying a gift for him either.  When I get my taxes back I'm going to buy him a Morphine shirt off of ebay.

My mom got me the most beautiful Jewelry box that has crystals all over it.  I'll have to take a pic because it is really pretty.  My camera is charging at the moment. 

Tomorrow will be a good day to get some school work done also.  Sunday I'll probably go to petsmart or petco and buy some valentines themed toys that will probably be on sale.

well, my boy is up in berkeley and i am down in southern california, so my lovely roommate - who also has a long-distance valentine - and i are going to go out on a v-day date. we're going to dinner and a movie! romantic, huh?  ;)

Me and the BF celebrated today by shoving our face with Chinese buffet.. Mmm. Tomorrow we'll exchange candy and stuff but thats it, unless he's got something panned I don't know about (doubt it, heh)

One of my favorite Valentine's Days every (besides the one where John proposed to me) was when we had very little money, so we went to a Chinese Buffet, and used free movie passes from a friend to go see 'Fools Rush In.' ;D

We went out for Japanese last night. :) We don't really do cards/gifts/candy for Vday. Even more so this year because we just got back from our cruise a week ago. We're just about recovered. LOL!

My boyfriend ended up doing something special for valentine's day by accident.  He took the past week off, so I just took this past Thursday through Monday off so we could go and do something together.  We completely forgot it was going to be Valentine's!

I ended up getting us a nice hotel room in Philadelphia for last night (my first time ever at the kind of place that valets your car, carries your bags, and all that).  We drove down here yesterday morning and went straight to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, checked in at the hotel, walked to the Mutter Museum (the physicians museum with all sorts of physical oddities - very informative and interesting!), and ended the day with eating at a nice seafood place!

As soon as I can wake the boyfriend up, we're heading across the street to a small hole in the wall breakfast place then checking out of our hotel and heading the the Franklin Institute.  After we walk around there all afternoon, we'll either watch Batman Begins there in Imax or head home to watch Friday the 13th in the theaters.

All of this was solely made possible by my mom who currently has my two dogs staying with her at her house and stopped by my house last night to feed and check on all the rest of the beasts!  I love her!   :heart:

Right now Im trying to get all my crap back in my carryon (weeks worth of clothes in a little bag).

Ill spend most of my day on a plane.

As for hubby and I, we agree that you shouldnt put all your love and good intentions on one (set aside by the masses) day.  So we just dont.

We make sure there are other days that we make sure the other knows how we feel. You can buy I love you cards and flowers all year.

We also ignore Valentines in memory of all those who had to spend the day reminded of how lonely they are.

Although I wouldnt be surprised if he didnt have something just because Ive been gone all week.   :) 

We had dinner at Whole Foods last night in an anti-celebration. Today, we are celebrating my cat's 9th birthday... my mom is really getting in to throwing parties, so she invited us over for cake, dinner, and chocolates. I think the cat birthday thing is just an excuse to throw a dinner, but I think it's cute anyway.

I'm all alone this year. But before he left the husband left a bag on my desk with a bunch of chocolate and a Wii game inside :) I suck and didn't get him anything. Maybe there will be cupcakes left when he comes home :)

I'd love to go get chinese (with or without him.. though take-out is pretty much impossible if I have to bring the kids with me... no hands left!)

I have the sweetest hubby! He surprised me. When we got back up to our room last night there was a present on the bed. He must have packed it. Inside were some chocolates and a Tshirt he had made for me that says, "Minkin!" on the front. On the back it has this picture (without the "my ball" caption) with "RAWR!" underneath.

My hubby is such a sweetie. We did say no valentine's presents this year, but he had actually planned to have the shirt for my birthday. I felt bad I didn't have anything for him though.

Ok, so I was at Jo-Ann's today, teaching a class and then promoting my classes... and I got him a card, some Gihrardelli Milk Chocolate & Peanut Butter squares (I'm SURE a company like Ghirardelli would NEVER use institutional peanut butter... heh), and a Wilton Cookie Kit. I was thinking about decorating the cookies before he got home... but I'm wondering if he'd pout that I did the decorating without him! LOL!

We conciously don't celebrate, 365 days to show love, we're all anti-Hallmark-Holiday, all that.  Though my son's at the age that he's all into it.  I helped him pick out a 1 lb. sack of pink foil wrapped chocolate hearts, decorated with a Hello Kitty card, for his best chick friend.  I thought that he would just give her the candy, and that's that, but she suprised him with two chocolate fudge Valentines cupcakes from a swanky bakery, and a lovely thoughtful handmade card, to her "best friend".  He was positively over the rainbow, and even grumpy old humbug me was touched. 

I want a Minkin shirt. 

I worked today...I got a one pound See's heart shaped box of assorted chocolates and a card for hubby, he got me 2 cards.  I am a little disappointed that this was his only effort, but what'cha gonna do?   ::)

It's my three-year anniversary of "dying" and then.........not dying and making a full recovery.  So we call it "happy anniversary" instead.  Ever since the nurse at the hospital teased my poor hubby for not bringing me a Valentine's day card and I said "It takes nothing to buy a card at CVS.  It takes EVERYTHING to sit next to your wife in the emergency room while a bunch of freaked-out doctors tell you she's about to die, and not lose it.  He will NEVER owe me a card."

We really do celebrate every day.  After almost 22 years of marriage, I'm still stupidly happy. 

My parents came in to visit us; I haven't seen them since Christmas because I've had a lot of URI's and then I snapped my ankle; they live 75 miles away but have health problems.  So it was GREAT to see them; I missed them something awful even though I talk to them all the time!  My dad slipped my son $50 to take his girlfriend out for a Valentine's dinner.  Then they treated the hubby, the daughter and myself to dinner at the local pub.  A very  happy day!

I ate my weight in Chinese food.  And now I've got a raging case of "sausage finger" from all the sodium.  Lots of water and extra exercise for me today!

I had a super eventful vday. lol...I bought my husband a card, he didn't even thank me. I apologized for not finding one he liked(I tried) and he said he just wasn't into cards. Yay. He brought me an orchid, which is nice, but the same thing he always does because apparently it's too much energy to think of something different. Then we went mattress shopping and I got the one I wanted, at least.

Ummm... we drove from St. Louis to a suburb outside of Chicago to pick up two boys, the car broke down, we had a miserable ride home, and then I cleaned rat cages and did rat laundry. Yeah, we had an awesome time. *sigh*

The good part? He gave me a $50 iTunes giftcard. So, really, it's all good. ;)

I'm loving it! Being away from home I feel like I have a little piece of Minkin with me.

He wanted to put "Have you met Minkin?" on the front. Which was a suggestion of Meeshski's, but large amounts of writing always get distorted by "the girls."

My day was actually good! We went on this great hike and had a picnic in nature. Then we discovered a bunch of cool little places off trail. I made him heart-shaped brownies and got him a card. He didn't get me anything, but it's okay because this poster he had gotten for me for christmas came yesterday!

We didn't do much....my youngest daughter had a b-day party to go to, I hit the fabric sale at Hancocks, and then we brought dinner to mother in law. My father in law passed away a month ago. :BlueDumboBigEyes:

BUT - it was also our 8year anniversary  :heart: It was a 2nd marriage for us both, so we eloped to Vegas - it was so fun, and the Little White Chapel had a webcam, so our family back home watched.

We're planning a night out next month to celebrate, as my family wants to kids overnight - it'll be worth the wait!!

Hmm we stayed home with the fiance's younger siblings, and his brother and his gf (my best friend). We have salad, french bread, brie, and wine. It was actually quite excellent. My fiance and I didn't exchange anything but cards, I really think valentines day is a hokey commercial mess.
