Awww... I hate being away from my babies!  Sometimes I wish I could call and talk to them on the phone or something.   Sad  You'll get them back soon and they will be back to annoying you! Cheesy

I know how you feel - I have to leave on Sunday to stay at my sisters for the week ( I have a class near where she lives). I don't know how I am going to make the
week! Sad

I won't be able to stay away a whole week! For sure
I'll be on from my sisters house, so everybody will have
to post me pictures of their ratties to tie me over.

Rats are my obsession!

« Reply #6 on: June 07, 2002, 08:13:02 PM »

If I was ever away from my babies for that long I would call up and have whoever is taking care of them, hold all six of them up to the phone one at a time so I could tell them I miss them and love them...*grin*

My husband is in Florida for three months and I FORCE him to talk to the rats almost nightly.  They seem to respond to his voice
"Honey, say hi to Ruggles"
"No"
"Come On!"
"This is stupid, its a waste of money"
"Don't you love them?Huh"
"Hi Snagletooth..."
"Wait, he didn't hear you.  Talk louder"
*Ruggles proceeds to chew on phone*
"Now tell Fenway you love him..."

I wonder if my husband will actually come back...

My family always does that. When I call home to speak with my parents, I am expected to say hello to their bird and their cat as well.  I've put my bruxxing rats up to the phone before in order to share the love with my Mom, but she just said that it sounded like something was wrong with the phone line.  Roll Eyes

*LOL*

YeaH! I call my parents like five times a night now, to check on the rats. It's so weird - like, it doesn't register in my brain that they're gone - I'll go to say hi to them and pet them through their cage and - they're missing!!!

Aawww Unity, I understand. Although I've never as yet had to leave my babies, I will soon.
I can imagine how badly you miss them, they are your children.
We live in an apartment too and recently had our inspections. My husband and I discussed maybee moving the rats till after they were over, but the cages are too big to move without a huge effort & hassle so we just left them out where they were in plain sight.
One of the managers walked by one of the cages and said "oh my, what a cage, what's in there?" And plain as day I just said "oh, rats" she looked at me and kind of went "uh...oh" and we never heard another word about it.....whew Roll Eyes
Hang in there!!! You'll soon be reunited with your babies

Don't worry you'll be back with your babies soon. It's hard being away from them. Heck I start going nuts if I've been gone for the day. I just can't wait to see their little faces. And I call and talk to my cat and dogs when I'm not home. I haven't done it to the ratties yet, but just wait I will if I have to go away. I especially like to call when my hubby is sleeping in way to late and talk to my dogs...I can get them worked into a frenzy and they go and pounce on the bed on top of my hubby. Then he picks up the phone and goes did you have to do that. Hee Hee Hee.

Just think...I'm leaving for Caliland for 2 weeks without my kids.  Luckily, on the 19th, I pick up my boys in Cali.  Buuuut...I'm only in town 22nd-28th before I leave for Europe (luckily, the guys'll be in quarentine w/mom while I'm in Europe).  Course, I'll only be in Europe for 10 fdays.  I HATE TRAVELING!  I don't wanna leave my kids behind Sad  Just think, your seperation is so shorter then mine! Sad  Poor you tho, life is tough.

Even when I'm at work I have to phone and check that the boys are ok (Simon does shifts so is often at home).

If anyone's awake, Simon'll get them out and I talk to them. I dread to think what the people in my office think when I'm shouting 'Fly, Badger, it's mummy, she loves you' down the phone.  Undecided

I'm sure thy think you're nuts, just like my coworkers do for having rattie figurines in my office.  Being rat nuts, however, is something to be proud of!

Argggh!!!  Me too, in July.   I'm thinking of trying to sneak them onto the plane (keeping them on my person during security).  It's not illegal, but I think the airline just doesn't allow small animals in the cabin any more (due to "allergies of passengers").  Hmm.  I should give them a call and see if rats count as "small animals"--it could be in my favor if they aren't, for a change.
