Rat Lover!

« on: April 16, 2002, 06:58:03 PM »

OK, I have 3 rats right now. 2 are sisters and the other is their daughter/niece. I have adopted another rat who is another generation younger. Actually she is thier niece, grand-daughter and grand-niece. Well anyway, so I have tried to put the newest/youngest in the cage and it seems that the others are messing with her. I am not sure if they are playing but it looks like that the older rats are trying to bite the newest/youngest. So my questions is, Are they playing? or How can I get them to get along?

Thanks in Advance

When did you get your new rat? Did you  quarantine
her? Either way, all your rats appear to have been
in contact with each other so it's done.

Your other rats are probably messing with the new one,
there is a whole heirarchy among rats (as all animals), and an introduction process you should follow. Following is a link to read that will be helpful.
Please be careful, watch to make sure the new one
does not get hurt.
Introductions take time and patience - please read
this link, and good luck you:

In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.
