Rat Lover!

« on: May 04, 2002, 11:35:39 AM »

I took Madison to the vet I had taken her to before today.  This vet is about the only one around here I can find that actually knows any amount of information about rats.  She also uses baytril and doxy as treatment for respitory infections.  She's a bit more expensive, but in my mind it's worth it.  Well she listened to her chest and did her exam and also weighed Madison.  When I took her to see her about 6 months ago she weighed 330 grams or so, and now she weighs 363.  From what she says Madison seems perfectly fine and her chest is clear with no sounds at all.  She suggested I take her off of aspen bedding and see if that might have been causing the sneezing.  I am going to try to find something that might be a little less dusty from now on.   I'm glad I took her at least now I can not be so worried about her.  I think I was being a little overprotected because of what happened with Kahlan.

Wonderful! It's always such an incredible relief when our rat friends get an exam and the vet says they're OK. It's also really uplifting whenever I read about someone who takes care of her rats properly . . . one reason I love coming to this site!  Grin
