yes you do
....I actually JUST put the two litters together in a HUGE cage and they are going NUTS!!!! They love it and the babies are all over while the moms are getting a much deserved break. I will be weaning everyone at this end of this week should they not do it on their own. All the babies are eating some solid foods.....I just want to be sure about them.

And I'm picking up my babies and Lil Miss (to hold her for Kira) on the 18th of this month. (fair warning-but a house cleaning is NOT necessary... You should, well, really you shouldn't see mine right now.) Between packing up the whole house, dealing with 50 animals, and having 400+ ornaments spread all over... cleanliness isn't a strong point right now.
See you on the 18th.

Question.
Excluding all those babies reserved, do you have a head count on how many are left for adoption? I keep pointing people your way, but I have no clue how many you've got left for adoption.
Kay you too!
You guys can PM me if you want. I don't want to hijack your thread. I'd hate to be trying to adopt rats you don't have LOL.

hiya bonnie....I would have to go check to make sure, but as of now I have at least 8 from the oldest litter, 8 from the LM litter, and 2-4 (depending on sex being adoped next week) from Sarahs litter.
PLUS, all adults are still available minus the PEW and Lil' Miss.

FWIW-
I went to Charlotte this past weekend and picked up 3 of the babies (had to, they were born on Sep 6, a birthday shared by my oldest son and my youngest daughter,
Anyway..........
These babies are the absolute cutest rats I have ever seen. As stated, they were born on the 6th, so we know for sure how old they are, yet they are micro rats, no bigger than adult mice. One of the litters all have crooked tails and are just adorable. If I had more space I would have taken more. I put the 3 of them into the top portion of our RUUD and lost them, their whole nose, up to their eyes sticks through the bars of the cage. TOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just had to share... she has more available BTW. <hint hint>

Hi, I am interested in two males. Preferrably outgoing from the start as I they need to bring my Cosmo out of his shell some more.
How is the personality of #2 on the Dumbo litter?
And are these babies all being handled daily?
And which are the males in Lil' Miss litter?
And what are the birthdates?
I am in Michigan but am willing to travel.

The babies were NOT held everyday unfortunately, as I work with rescue and having my own 14 rats, PLUS 30 more....working AND going to school, moving and caring for the rest of my zoo....I honestly did not have the time or energy. But, they were held regularly, and since being weaned fromt he mothers it has been much easier for me to hold them and play with them (as most mothers LM and Sarah were VERY protective).
They are all used to being held though and are VERY active.
Lil' Miss had 4 boys (all of which are reserved) and sarah had 2 boys, 1 of which passed early on.
The birthdates are as Kay stated, September 6th for LM's litter, and September 12th for Sarah's litter. And, the dumbo mothers litter was born approx. July 26th.

So, does that mean male #2 in the dumbo litter is still available? What is his personality like?

Sorry, I knew I forgot something...lol
Yeah, all the males from the dumbo mothers litter are still available. I have adopted out females only from that litter thus far. And all of these were handled daily until the second and third litters were born. They have continued to be held, but not daily. They are all very sweet and quite curious. And the mother has a fantastic temperment and is still with a fellow rescuer (the woman who they were with until being weaned) and she kept a number of the babies fromt he litter because she couldn't let herself part with all of them.

OK, I think this Dumbo litter would be a good fit with Cosmo, as they are about the same age (Cosmo is a month older).
I would like to reserve Male #2. Also, I the web site shows that Chelsie has two of the males on reserve? If not I would also be interested in Male #3 (I love hoodies). If he is not available, then I would like to reserve Male #4.
I will need to make travel arrangements, so please email me with where I will be going for these babes.

Okay, here's the deal with travel.
They have to fly in the mail/cargo airplane, but NorthWest ships thousands of animals each month and has a special temperature controlled cargo room for live animals.
They would each need a heath certificate from a vet stating that they are in good health and can stand temperatures below 50 degrees to 10 degrees. The temperature requirement is just so they can transport the carrier outside to the airplane, where it is temperature contolled. This time a year, the temp outside should not be too cold.
They can leave from the airports in either Greensboro or Raleigh. They need to arrive 2 hours before the flight where they will be kept inside. Food can be put on the outside of the carrier in a baggy (I would put a handful inside for them to crunch on during the ride) and a water bottle can be used.
The flight itself is only 1 1/2 hours, so if everything goes smoothly, the little guys will arrive before they know it and I will be waiting for them.
If you agree to this transport, this is what I suggest. I have a proper carrier, water bottle that I could fed-ex to you for use in the transportation. I could also fed ex the ticket for the flight. I will of course pay for the flight which is $136.00. You will need to get the health certificates, and deliver the boys to the airport 2 hours before the scheduled flight.
So please let me know if you are willing to do this, which day you can transport them to the airport, and where I can fed-ex the carrier/suppies/ticket.

Ok, to answer your Q's I have updated the site via sexes....the boys from the dumbo litter are all up for grabs....I spoke with Chelsie and she just wants 4 males, I have two paired in with the litter who I also rescued with the mothers who were breeders....so I assured her that I will keep four for her. That means, you can pick any 2 males from the litter, as long as she can have the other two from it to go with the 2 I have already set aside for her.
To answer the rest....I am happy to work with you on all of the transport, and if rattie can get them to the airport I am sure it will be fine. If not we can see about shipping from here (charlotte). As for the vet cert. I will have to notify my vet and find out how much that will cost, but I will try and get this all figured out by the weekend so when rattie travels down it can be done if possible.
Rattie, let me know if this is ok, if not I will get started on the charlotte transport....OR we can try and find out if we can create a rattie transport via raats members.
Thanks guys.

I would gladly try to ship the animals but I have never shipped one before and would have no idea what exactly to do. I am alittle hesitant about it but if you two agree on this I can try. I do not want to be held resposible for missed or delayed flights though. (Missed due to improper papers) As for the other animals that need to be brought this way I will gladly pick them up and bring them.

I have also never shipped, but I do know that LSR is shipping to me soon, and I know that if she trusts the process and the weather....well, then I suppose I should too.
I could just see what it would be like to try from here. STill have to call the vet tomorrow to see what I need to do, so I will update as I find out about that.
But if you can transport to the woman in CH that would be FANTASTIC....she will meet you anyplace you would like.....on your way home, or in raleigh.....where ever.
Just let me know and I will contact her.
Thanks again.

Okay I can meet the lady in Raleigh on sunday when I get back. As for the shipping ones if you think it is safe we can try it. But it would need to be a evening flight because I have school during the day time.

Since I get the pick of the boys, I would like to take both hoodies from the dumbo litter.
Okay, since I need to book the flight, Rattie, you need to tell me when and during what times. Sunday or Monday at Raleigh on an evening flight? Is that what your saying?
The number to Northwest Cargo is 800-692-2746 if anyone wants to check on details of a pet transport.
The weather here has not dropped below 40 degrees, but I was assured that they would only be outside from and to the airplane. Also, they will be packed with at least one fleece hamock that I will send down to you with the carrier.
The health certificate
must
state that the rats can tolerate below 50 degrees down to 10 degrees; but the 10 degree thing is not an issue this time of year.
Also, I still need an address emailed to me for the fed-ex care package of carrier and supplies for travel.

OK, no worries, but ehere is no way we can get this all done and get these rats shipped this weekend. My vet can't see them till tomorrow and then we would have to make SURE everything was ready before getting tickets and with the carriers and such being shipped and me not yet having the cert.s for the rats....I just think it better to wait for another week.
Rattie, you can still transport to the CH woman right?
And, Melanie, we will get this figured out and get you a couple of boys....I just want to do it right.

Okay sounds good to me. I can be there Sunday about lunch time and I might be able to make a trip half way in a week or two. If that would help get Melanie's little ones shipped. i have to drive to Virginia next weekend but I could possible do the weekend after that one. (Nov. 9)

Let me get this right... rattie, are you going to Charlotte to meet Liz?
The reason why I ask (slightly off topic, but still kinda related) I have someone in the DC area that would LOVE to adopt Gilbert, which Liz has. She said she'd be willing to help in transport, but she can't drive from DC to Charlotte herself, I'm asking her now if she can drive to the Raleigh area, but if anything, Raleigh is a lot closer than Charlotte.
I know it's last minute, and it dosen't have to be this weekend, but I thought that maybe if you were already going we can work something out? You can PM me or Email me. I just wanted to post here since I know you both are keeping up with this thread...

Yes I am going to Charlotte this weekend and meeting with Liz to get a few babies. Next weekend I am driving to Williamsbirg, VA to meet someone else with Rats to pick up some to help her out. If either of these would help I would be glad to do it. One more rat would be fine. If it is okay with Liz to have Gilbert ready to go also. Williamsburg. VA would not be that far if she wanted to meet me there. Hope this helps.
