Rat Lover!

« on: May 06, 2002, 11:33:18 AM »

Hi I just got a new rat and I want to litter train her. I've never litter trained one before so I was wondering if anyone knows how to do it. I think she is about 6 months, kida big and pregnant.  So far I have located her bathroom corner and have put a small litter container in the corner, I also put some of her soiled newsparer in there too so she get the idea to go in there, am I going about this the right way?

Sounds like you're doing the right things.  My rats will poop in their litter box but they won't consistently pee in it!  Good luck!

Yup, you're on the right track. Just keep moving all her "business" to the litter box and eventually she'll catch on  Wink

Cheesy yeah, my rat used her litter box! I hope she will continue to, now hopefully I can clean her cage more easily.

Misty started to use the litter box, then I got Biscuit and things sort of got out of control. Can't seem to keep up with them. I keep picking up the doo and putting them in the litter box, and they Misty would either just sleep in the litter box, or she'll kick everything out of it!
Maybe she's protesting? Perhaps she just doesn't want to be litter trained...
