Progress!

One of my rats, Abby, used to be a biter, she has drawn blood from me on more than one occasion. I have been working gently with her trying to gain her trust. This is a rat that I have had for close to 2 years. She was fully grown when I got her from Petco. She has basically spent her life in her cage because she is so difficult to get out, but today I took the ball that she and her buddy Mittens were sleeping in and put it on the couch. After a while she came out and did a bit of exploring. She let me scritch her, and while I was doing that she started bruxing and bulging her eyes out. I had never seen that before and was so happy! I feel so good that she is really starting to trust me. I think that with a little more time, she will start to look forward to coming out for play time and really getting the most out of the rest of her life.
