I'm a llama!

« on: September 15, 2003, 09:56:04 AM »

Hi....
I live in Greensboro, NC. We have 4 really sweet, well mannered males that we need to find homes for. I would prefer that they stay together, but would adopt in pairs. They all have unique personalities, and are loved very much. However, my daughter has become alergic to them and I need to find them a good, loving home. I have 3 large cages that I have linked together so as to give them lots of room. I don't know where else to turn, so I thought I'd try here. Someone had suggested the local animal shelter, but rats are so misunderstood by the general public, that I doubt if they'd be adopted there. I don't want to go that route......please help if you can.

Hi.
How old are your boys?  Can you describe them some more (color, type, etc.)?  Where did you originally get them (petstore, breeder, rescue?)
I cannot speak for anyone else, but RAATS has at least one member in Greensboro.  If you are letting the cage go with your rats, I think that someone would be able to take them in (spare cages are short).  I might be able to foster them...  I am in VA.  email me if you have any questions, or post here.

Hello,
I believe 2 are Agouti, and the other 2 are hooded. The oldest boy is a lilac hooded, I think. I am going by the online pictures displaying the types of colors found in rats. They were all bought at pet stores. We got the first one about a year ago, and he was not full grown then. We got the other 3 last January, and they were also just youngsters then. The cage and accessories are included, and free. I am just wanting to find them a good home. They are all very tame and friendly. Feel free to e-mail me directly. yturner819@yahoo.com
   Thanks,

I'm in Greensboro, an officer for RAATS and I can take them for you. The shelter here should call me anyway if you were to take them there. I have already taken two rats off their hands and they are supposed to call me if more come in.

Either contact me here or through any IM that you have. All my contact info is listed in my profile and I sent a message to your Yahoo IM just incase you have that too.

I hope to hear from you soon. Kira and I are anxious to lend a hand.

Hi,
I did have some people come from Jefferson, NC last night to pick up the boys. The name of their rescue center is:

Phoenix Rodentry & Rescue Center, INC.
PO Box 912
2470 Old Highway 16
Jefferson,  North Carolina  28640
501(c)3 tax exempt non profit organization
24 Hour Help Line  (336) 982-3228

I went to their website and they seemed ok.
Do you know anything about this group?
I kinda had a gut feeling that maybe I shouldn't have let them go to them, but I figured it was probably just "separation anxiety".
Anyways, let me know if you know anything with regards to their credibility. Thanks,
Yolanda

Um, I hope I'm wrong here, but isn't that Gilbert and Katrina? Gosh I hope I'm wrong about this...

EDIT
It is them Oh boy... They have a "reputation" in the rat community and is genrally avoided like a plague. I don't want to go into the details about the hewhoshallnotbenamed, but basically I'd try like hell to get your rats back from them.
