my babes looooove grass and trees. and i cannot take them outside in winter. Tongue so i had the brilliant idea of growing grass in a large pan and like putting a baby tree in it and letting my babes play in there grass, in the winter. has anyone ever tried this? do your rats like it?Huh

I don't know about grass, but if you plant wild bird seed or wheat seed, it will sprout and they LOVE to play in it.
It usually only lasts about a day or 2 which is why I use wild bird seed (much cheaper to replant).  After the plants are trampled and dug up, they usually just have fun digging in the dirt for awhile.

Yeah I know of a lot of people who plant grass or wild bird seed in trays and their rats have a blast playing in it and digging up and eating the seeds.  Idk about this mini tree idea...but I say go for the planting seeds!
EDIT:  for grammatical error

I do this, but I use wheatgrass, which is very nutritious.
