Does anyone know any sites or have any ideas on how to make a transport-friendly cage? I need one that I can take apart and put back together pretty easily. It needs to be fairly flat and so forth when taken apart.

Any help is greatly appreciated  Hyper

Go to www.petratscanada.com for an easy travel box. I've made one like this for a mouse cage, and it's awesome! It doesn't fold up, but you can store rat toys and treats in it when it's not being used. Smiley

go to wal-mart get a rubbermaid container w/ lid cut large square in lid replace with screen or wire

thanks, but that's not really what I'm thinking of... I need like a collapsible cage, for moving and stuff. I have carriers. Like a cage that I can take all the sides off and pile them into the truck and still be able to fit other things in there too, it's a very small truck.

http://www.martinscages.com has a couple of collapsible cages listed in their ferret cages. You can order most of these cages in the 1" x 1/2" bar spacing (ask for "rat" spacing) if you call your order in instead of placing it online.

I've been looking for a collapsible cage, too--when I go on vacation, I plan to take the rats in carriers, then set up a cage at our destination--so it has to pack small (since I have a small car and two kids). Here's what I've found so far--I plan to buy the petco cage, since it's the biggest and I have 6 rats:

I found a small collapsible one at petco.. I know it is not the best store in the market.  

It is the extra-small cage over by the dog department. light brown.  
it stands about less than 12" high and is bout 12" x 18" long. comes with a handle, I just love mine. I can carry all my girls at the same time 5 or 6 rats.  and they have room.
I find this is great because it come with a wire top that you can open and reach down and get your pet. then it collaps down fold away.
 
 I also found a creeper keeper ranch which come with a divider so I could bring both my males with out them fighting.
