I am in a very small town in southern Kentucky.  I have never heard of anyone breeding rats for pets until I found this forum.  I would like to find a breeder of "pet" rats in my area.  How do I go about finding one?  Where should I look? I have no clue at all on this!

have you checked the adoption section here?
Also try posting at www.rodentfancy.com/forums (in the village green) or at http://forums.rmca.org.  Also there are Yahoo groups such as Rat-Adoption (rescues only) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Rat-Adoption/?yguid=82665706 and Rat Classifieds (any sale goes) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ratclassifieds/?yguid=82665706.   Both of these groups have public archives so you may be able to find someone within your driving distance.
