I love my little stinks.

Ok, more hand rearing baby questions.

I have 4 babies as almost everyone knows.  It seems recently, they have begun some minor balding on parts of their bodies.  For the most part they retain their hair, but in others it seems to be thinning.   This became most apparent on one of the little boys.  One morning he had hair on his face.  In the afternoon, the sides of his head and his left arm were nearly bald.  The babies will be 3 weeks old next friday.  I know that double rexes loose their hair, but I thought that wasn't until they were older.    All babies have straight whiskers and straight hair.  Also, I noticed him scratching at his face while feeding him. Is this this culprit?  Is there anyway to help minimize this hair loss?  I wipe the babies down several times a day, to try and imitate their mother cleaning them.  The babies have already started grooming themselves, but mostly just their faces as they cannot balance just yet on their own to reach other spots.  Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Tibeca

I wonder if you possibly have a case of barbering?  I'm just throwing out idea here.  I'm fairly new to owning rats, but I know that sometimes they get overzealous in grooming themselves or one another and start taking off hair.  I wonder if this is what's happening in your case.  Any experienced breeders out there have a different opinion?
