Its in Seattle Wa on Nov 3rd. All are welcome to come but if you want to bring rats you have to follow the three week quarantine, all rats have to be registered three weeks prior and no new rats into the home in that time. Hope to see you there!!

we haven't been breeding - had an accidental litter, of beauties we need to find homes for.  Mom is from Ratty Rascals, but dad is from just a small pet shop.  He's a beautiful Russian Blue, though, and the babies are all so sweet and cute.  We're looking for any good homes, so we don't have to care for 14, but I think it will be hard for us to find homes since we don't have the pedigree.  Do you have any suggestions?
We'd give them for free to good homes, but I don't know how to make sure they're good homes

Ray...  I was asking Ayri how long she has been breeding, since she posted about litters from her established rattery.  (I could not find mention of it on her website)  I did not realize you even had babies, lol!
About your questions, though:
You can ask a minimal price.  Find out what they usually charge for feeder rats in your area  Sad and ask for a few dollars above that to discourage the purchasing of your babies for that purpose.
Also, you could write up a simple adoption contract, in which you require the adopter to promise good care, feeding, and proper bedding use, etc., and you can also say where the rat must go if that person can no longer take care of him.  (i.e., you can say they have to bring them back to you, or must give to local shelter, etc.)
These are a few ways to help ensure that you weed out the riffraff who just want your babies for unethical or uninformed purposes.  (Our rescue group also requires parental permission for those under 18 to adopt, which prevents bad situations in which the parent will not provide vet care, or worse, removes the rat from the home.)

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the ideas.  I think the contract sounds good.  I was thinking of saying that if they don't want to keep them for any reason, please call us and we'll take them back - rather than worry about someone not so loving getting them on the second go-around.
All our small local pet shops have closed up, and Petco will take them, I know, and they say they won't be feeders, but I just don't feel like they will keep them healthy and find good homes.  They do let us post ads at a want-ad type display, though, so I'm going to do that, place an ad in the paper, at the animal shelter, at some of the small private local schools, and see what happens from there.
Thanks for all your info, and I can't wait to see ratapalooza.  It sounds like fun!

Hello and thanks for asking. I have been breeding since 1998. I started with blues and still like to work with blues but my main interest is tailess. I was the first in the northwest to have tailess rats and they really are my passion. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Sincerely

AYRI
