I foster rats for the Humane Society of North Tx

« on: October 05, 2003, 12:53:03 AM »

I am a volunteer with the Humane Society of N. Texas (located in Ft.Worth).
My new job is to try to find homes for various rats that come into our shelter. Right now we do not have any that are adoptable at this time. We have several aggressive males waiting to be neutered, and hopefully after the neutering, they will be able to put up for adoption.
I am thrilled to find this board!! I just came up on it on a fluke, and I thought what better of a place to look for homes for some of the rescues....

So thats my intro....I will post on the adoption board as new things arise.

Thank you for having such a wonderful place.

Wow.

I've always gone to the Fort Worth Humane Society, but never seen any small animals, just tons and tons of cute little puppies, kittens, doggies and kitties that all wanted to come home with me.  If only I'd seen a rat before now! Ah well. ^.^

Good luck with the fostering 'n adopting, wish I still lived in Texas. ^.^

Theres always Holiday visits...

Welcome!  I don't live in Texas, but a number of us here believe very strongly in adopting rescues.  Keep us  informed as rats become available.

HI!
I too work at an animal shelter and have found many great rattie homes due to this forum! You are going to love the dedicated people here and all the new information you will learn. It'll make a huge difference to the rats in your care. If you or the shelter managers have any questions, feel free to call my shelter and we can tell them how great the transports have been for us! Good luck and happy forever home hunting!

Welcome! So far I have adopted from 2 rescues, the one Kimmy works at and another one. These were not very close to me, (not all that far, but far enough) and it's very possible to get them where they need to be. Where did Loki's brother and mom end up Kim? And they were coming from Maine!  Smiley

If you need help adopting any rats out you can post them on the rat associations website here http://www.ratassociation.org. I adopted a rat from the spca in mckinney recently and she is just the best, they found her in a abandoned apartment and she is just the sweetest thing.
