Hi,
In case you still need some sugestions on extra nutrition to build up your ratties.  I use human baby soy formula.  I buy the powdered form and mix up a bottle of milk and put it in their cage along with a bottle of water.  I use the aquarium water bottles that are round on top and bottom with the drinking tube straight down and they hang by a paperclip thing.  These bottles don't leak and you can fill them however full you want according to how many ratties and how much they drink.  You should change the milk at least once a day, more if it is very warm or it seems to spoil.   This works very well to give pregnant, nursing, or poorly ratties extra nutrition.  They love it!  I buy mine at Wal mart, their brand parents choice costs about $13 a 2 pound can and will last you  pretty long depending on how many ratties you have.  Also I don't know about feeding them cat and dog food?  I mix my own rattie food of all kinds of grains, seeds, cereals, sunflower seeds without the shells, dried beans, a few peanuts, I buy the stuff in bulk at a grocery or you can get it from co-ops.  Oats are very good for them and also build the immune system.  Hope this helps.
