I'm a llama!

« on: October 28, 2003, 04:49:54 PM »

I have 7 female rats that I'm hoping to find good homes for. At least some of them.  Various ages and colors. All but one one were rescues. All are in good health as far as I know except for one who seems to have resperatory flareups from time to time but always handles it w/o meds so far. I most likely will keep her and the one I took in with her.

I also do cat fostering and some guinea pig rescue and when I agreed to take these in I didn't realize how much time it would take to keep things clean and keep the smell down. I also feel bad because the room they had to get out and run around in has now had to be turned into a quarantine room for cats.

If you might have any interest please contact me and I can give you more information on them. They are all very sweet and well socialized.

Thanks

Do they come with cages?  Where in Michigan?  How old are they?

No cages-what they're in now I want to keep as it actually is a large guinea pig cage that I adapted.

They vary in age from about 4-5 monthes old to probably a year or so. There is only one that I know the actual age of.

For anyone in the Detroit area who is interested, I'm part way in between these rats and Detroit (Adrian).  I go to the Ann Arbor/ Ypsilanti area quite frequently.  I'd be happy to act as a transport person if anyone is interested.

I could also help with transport all the way to Toledo, if needed.

Where did you rescue these guys from?  Did you plan to only to be a temporary home?  I'm curious about their story.

Thanks for the transport offers-I would also be able to do some traveling-depending on how far.

The first 2 came from a gal that couldn't keep them anymore and wondered if since I did GP rescue if I might take them. My daughter had one years ago and I ended up getting really attached to her(much to my surprise)so I said sure. The 3rd was a rescue that I took from a breeder. I then actually bought one from a breeder that was unknowingly pregnant. I exchanged the males from the litter for a couple more rescue females. I didn't want any males just to be safe.

I can handle 7-the cleaning, expense etc  if I can't find good homes for any but I think they deserve more attention than I can give them. They are all such sweet girls. As I stated originally I will keep at least the first 2 I took in as Percy has resperatory problems and I wouldn't want to separate her and Patti as they've always been together. This has been a hard decision for me-I had thought before about trying to adopt them out but had been putting it off. I also had not anticipated on them having to lose their room I could let them roam in to a quarantine room for my foster cats.

If anyone would like it-my email is jtriece@cablespeed.com. and I can email some pictures if I can get some good ones.

I'm in Toledo, and one of my good friends is looking for rats.... It will probebly be a month until We even know if she can have them, but if you could tell me some information about each individual girl, I could pass it on and ask if my friend is intersted in a pair.

I'd take them, but my parents are getting REALLY fed up with me bringing home animals.... And my cage is full to capasity.

Their ages vary from about 4 monthes to possibly 2. No hairless. I can take pictures if you want to send me your email to send them to. There's a variety of color.
