I bought a rat from a pet store (yes, I know I shouldn't have, but I did...) and she turned out to be pregnant. She had 10 healthy babies on Oct. 6 and I'm still looking for good homes for a few of both sexes. To the best of my knowledge, she's a double rex. The babies that are still available look like their mama. They started out with rex-like hair, but are steadily losing it and becoming bald. They're all well handled and loved, but we've got 3 adult hoodies and 2 adult double rexs (inc. mama). I can email pictures to anyone who is interested and I'm willing to make arrangements to get them to new homes. I am requesting a $5 adoption fee to make sure they get good homes  Grin

Hey there! I live in meriden CT!
I'm looking for a little rat girl. Is there any way you can send me a picture of the little ratties? I already have a blackhooded. She's 6 months old.
I really want her to have a playmate. I'm not home all that much, and she needs some one to play w/.
What do you mean... bald?
Thank you.

My son and I had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Doolittle and her critters. If you are interested in a double rex, these are the most adorable and socialized babies. The visit was an awesome experience. All of her rats are extremely friendly, well cared for and loved, and it shows. It was the most incredible "Happy Rat" experience that my 11 year old son could have had. We would have taken 2 home if they had only kept their hair. My heart still longs for one due to their incredibly sweet personlities. Heart

Two male babies took the train to NY today and I'm taking another up to NH tomorrow. We're committed to keeping at least two others (my husband is attached to one female, one male has health problems, and the third is Lily...not sure if I can part with her). So, that leaves 1 male and 3 or 4 females that are ready to go! More rats anyone?

cute pics - but why is DL with esperanza in one of them? arent they male/female? at 6 weeks old, the sexes should definitely be separated now Smiley otherwise, there could be more babies on the way in the future...

I understand your concern...don't worry though...D.L. and Esperanza were only together briefly (with strict parental supervision) while we took those pictures.  D.L. and Harvey (the only males living in our house) moved into their own home when they reached 5 weeks old ; they're well away from our 10 females.  I've never kept males, but I'm keeping D.L. because he's not the healthiest specimen and I want to make sure there is no chance for him to reproduce.  If I can place Harvey in a new home, I'd like to because then I could place a slightly older, unwanted haired male that I know of in with D.L.  Thought it'd be easier to find a home for Harvey, but no takers yet. I've also still got 2 females that people have shown interest in, but no one has followed through with plans as of today. I'll let folks know if/when the availability changes on any of these 3.  Ratty Smiley

Miranda, since your mother so often says you can't have more rats, why are you emailing Mrs. dolittle to try and get more?  You have had your own rats posted in this forum more than once.

Update...Looks like I'll be keeping 2 females and 1 male, but there's still one very friendly, healthy male named Harvey available to a good home.  I'm getting attached, but would be willing to adopt him out if anyone is looking for a nice double rex male.
