I Was A Rattie Mommy For 9 Years...

« on: November 06, 2003, 11:39:57 AM »

They just all had baths, except Dax. But Loki, Odin and Remus all took baths. They HATED it! Loki was the most well behaved, he didn't mind as much until mean me put the shampoo on him!
Odin and Remus loudly voiced their complaints at me and did acrobatics trying to get out of the tub. Poor boys, but they smell so fresh and clean now, and hopefully the aloe in the shampoo will sooth Odin & Remus's scabs. Hopefully they'll go away or to the vet they'll have to go to get tested for bacterial infection. *crosses fingers that they go away* Anyway thats all, just sharing my bathtime story.  Smiley

PS - They are all drama kings, they each snatched a yogie when I handed them out!  (probably grumbling at me under their breath)

Awww, poor abused boys!  Luckily for my skin, my boys are easy to bathe, as far as rats are concerned.  Aggy is the worst, but even so, it's not bad at all.  And the towel rub-down usually makes up for the evilness of bathtime.

Ugh....my guys need baths too...but I recall the last time I bathed them...when Binky and Dax were the only BIG guys....so I only had to wrangle those two and their pathetic attempts to jump out of the tub - all which ended in a THWAP on the side of the tub and a cartoonish slide back down into the water....

The rest of the guys were probably 8 weeks old....so they just huddled up on the basket island and gave the most pahetic whimper squeak you have ever heard....

But yes the freshness of a bath is so sweet.... but short lived....

Weird, and proud of it!

If your rats don't like a tub bath, try a sink bath.  I've found I come away with less scratches if I bathe them one at a time in the sink, with a towel on the bottom to give them traction, and using a bowl of warm water and a cup to wet them down and rinse... Smiley

That's how I do it.  One at a time in the sink.  It works really well, for me at least.

I figure they jump high enough to get out of the tub, they would be outa the sink in no time!

In an ebil sort of way I find it quite amusing to watch the boys jump STRAIGHT up in the air.....but then I snap back into reality and realize they aare scared  Roll Eyes BAD MOMMY

Although Dax does that BOING thing in here trying to jump high enough to get to the bottom of the girls cage (when they were in it I have since switched)

Horny little devil....He runs around with his 'lipstick' hanging out when he smells the ladies......ewwweruuhh
