I'm a llama!

« on: January 06, 2004, 12:36:05 AM »

An update to my previous post on the 5 rats I rescued.  The foster mom to the 4 boys is going to adopt them =)  She is looking into buying a 2nd large cage (she already has 4 rats of her own!) and if all goes well the boys have a home.  Turns out the 'white' boys were actually *really* light siamese.  Shows how much I know about rats!

That leaves us to place Gracie, the lone female rat from that group.  We are hoping the Rodent shelter will take her.  I'm in love with her but just don't have the right set-up for a rat, or alot of time on my hands.

But the biggest update comes from the fact that we have another rat to place.  A co-worker, unpon hearing that I had rescued this family asked "do you want another one?".  Apparently her 2 year old rat nipped her for the first and only time lalst night and now she plans to (literally) 'throw him away'.    I assured her that I would pick him up tomorrow.  I plan to simply drive him down to our city shelter- even if he is euthanised its a better fate than abandonement in the freezing weather we are having at the moment.   I've contacted several groups so hopefully I can find an emergency placement for a few days until something perment can be found.   He's a silver/white male, rather small for an adult male.
