I use a mix of Suebee and Marwin's rat diet... But because I don't have a lot of rats and mix in the Nutro Natural Choice Lite dog food with Harlan Teklad lab blocks and the rest of the mix I don't use a whole lot. So the smallest bag is too big for me.

Nutro's Natural Choice Lite line makes dog buscuits as well as the dog food. However the Protein and Fat is higher - 18% and 4% respectively. I don't know about other differences - I just e-mailed the company about it.

Do you think it is okay to replace the dog food with these biscuits? Or should I just go ahead and buy the bag and freeze what I'm not using right now? I'm just feeding the cereal and sunflower seed mix with 1-2 lab blocks and 1-2 Nutro dog biscuits.

Thanks!

I dont know the answer to that, but I bought a big rubbermaid container and mix it all in there. I know how even the smallest bag of Nutro makes a lot, but I only have to make new food every month or so (a bit longer than that-maybe 2 months) and I have 4 rats.

The Rubbermaid contaier keeps it fresh and sealed, so it's working for me.

i would say make a bigger batch and keep it fresh somehow - freezing is a good idea, or using the big sealable containers too! i guess its easy for me when my rats and mice go through 10 lbs of food in 10 days!! i make them in huge batches -- i currently have 20 lbs of one kind of dog food, 16 lbs of another, and then 8 lbs of nutro on hand for emergencies (when my supply runs out when i am away, its the only dog food i would feed that is carried in most pet stores, but this rarely occurs)
