I'm with Bonnie!  I've totally lost track of where these boys are and where they are going!  I do wish SOMEONE would take them!  It's really upsetting me.  Poor little guys!

I Was A Rattie Mommy For 9 Years...

« Reply #61 on: September 02, 2004, 05:34:26 AM »

We WERE trying to get them to Memphis. I'll PM BrooksMama, she was the one in contact with the lady who could bring them from Tenessee. Hopefully it's not too late, otherwise, we have no home set up since transport either way was seeming to not work out.

Oh and is anyone willing to drive them from Raleigh to Greenville? I am booked, I have to work and do petsitting this weekend. And I hear Greenville is far. I don't personally know because, well, even though I lived here almost a year now, I still don't know where the heck anything is!

Oh and the boys are here at my house now, in Raleigh NC. We are trying to get them to Oklahoma, we need transport to Memphis Tenn, where they will be given to another trtransporter, who can then get them to Oklahoma.

I'll post pics later when I get home from work, I shouldn't even BE on the computer right now, I should be getting ready for work! Bad Kelly!

Well if they are going from NC to TN, then Raleigh is on the way from Greenville.  (She will have to go thru raleigh and greensboro to get to TN)  If someone could meet her somewhere easy to find in Raleigh, she might not have a problem doing it. (Mind you I havn't asked her yet, but she was willing to transport last time we needed it)

I guess they don't need to go there. If this lady agrees, she'd be traveling right through Raleigh and I could meet her.

Hmmm...I don't want to burden you with more rats if you don't need them right now. I can take p3purr up on her offer if you don't think you'll be able to or want to take them. I can probably drive them to you if you decide you'd still like to foster them though.

It sounds like rattie has her hands full. My friend is taking my girls to her house on Saturday due to my trip (6th-12th). I won't be here to care for them those days if they came here. The woman taking my rats will be stopping in a few days and my neighbor will be watching my cats. I have no A/C in my car and my sister would freak out if I took the boys with me to Buffalo. She doesn't even like cats or dogs. Obviously I wouldn't be here during that time if transport worked out for them. As far as me keeping them forever, I'm still resisting my urge. I know that would be the easiest thing to do but I can't make that decision until I get back from my trip.

Why did I just look at their pics??? *sigh* Roll Eyes they are handsome fella's!

I'm still really confused. Where are the rats now, and they still need to go to TN?

And I appologise, I was wrong-- my friend is going to Knoxville, not Nashville. Got my Ville's mixed up.

Either way, she is going THIS Saturday.  Maybe this isn't enough time to set this up?  (Especailly since it's not me driving, it's a 3rd party...)

It is really confusing! I keep loosing track of what's going on. Maybe this will help:

Oh and the boys are here at my house now, in Raleigh NC. We are trying to get them to Oklahoma, we need transport to Memphis Tenn, where they will be given to another transporter, who can then get them to Oklahoma.

I'm near Greensboro and am considering taking the boys if they don't have a home by 9/13.

I solved one problem that was holding me back from giving the boys a permanent home but I'm still reluctant to have boys and girls. I'm concerned about the boys starting to scrap if their are girls nearby.  Any comments? should I post this in another section?

From what I understand their cage is a bigger one than was originally suppose to go with them. That's great for them but if I have them I may end up having to stack their cages and don't know if that's a great idea with male and female ratties.

Kelly: does the cage have an outside feeder? I looked up the cage online and it looked like that was an option with the cage. If so my neighbor wouldn't have a problem with them while I was gone. My friend whose taking my girls in will be checking in after him 2 or 3 times while I'm gone. I'm asking in case they need foster care (or if I decide to take them *hesitantly*)

The thing on the outside is not a feeder, it's a hay rack thing. And I think she threw hers away, but the food would fall right through the bars anyway since it's completely open on the other side.
Right now I have them in my living room, and the girls are about 10 feet away, no fighting as of yet.

They are sweet hearts. Their hammocks were all hung weird so they didn't go in them, but I fixed that and now Keldar is in the hammock sleeping. Smiley And Drizzit is in the happy hut.

Anyway, I got to go to work now...

I leave early on the 6th (Tuesday). If we can't get together before than I can give you their new mom and dad's phone number. Gut feeling says we need to try to get this done.

I PM'd you with other details.

I'm happy to report that Kelder and Drizzit were delivered to their new family tonight. I'm sure it's going to work out great for all of them.
They will take lots of pics and I'll post some when I get them.

I talked to the adoptive parents today and their teenage daughters were watching them until 6 this morning, just laughing and really enjoying the boys. Both boys were taking treats from their hands and loving all the attention. My understanding is that Drizzit hadn't been taking treats from hand before. I'm glad they seem to be adjusting so quickly. They are sweet and deserve a good home.
