*AHEM*

I just received an e-mail from Martin's and there powder coater is back up and running and they expect my cage to be shipped within 2-3 weeks. They DO have a few backorders to slog through HOWEVER, place your order now and I bet you could have a new cage WITH new babies in it in no time.

*not trying to nudge you towards these sweeties at all  Wink*

Don't get your hopes up yet on getting your Martin's Cage soon...  Angry

Not to spoil the party  Party , but I've had a powder coated 695 on order since 7/26.  Back then, they said 2 to 3 weeks.  It's been almost 4 already...
Then I placed another order (2 different sizes) and they said 2 to 3 weeks...
Soooo......

Everybody e-mail Martins and tell them to get their rear in gear!

StellaLuna, Martin's has been very up front about the backorder issues with their powdercoat supplier.  They have gone so far as to change supplier this year to try and get us higher quality product, and there have been glitches.  Diana has been very efficient and friendly in responding to what must be a deluge of emails from customers asking after their cages.  I placed an order for a 695 on 7/26 also and decided last week to go with PVC coat instead of powdercoat.  I emailed Diana Sunday night to let her know, and my cage arrived Tuesday morning.

Please don't bring personal issues with the company to light if you have not contacted Diana Martin to let her know about your concerns.  This is a company that is family owned and works hard for our business, and provides us with incredibly high quality product for very reasonable prices.  They deserve more respect from the rat owning community that open badmouthing on a huge forum like this.

yeah man, don't diss the martins. they replaced for free my cage that was stolen off my front porch when the genius fed ex guy left it there. they didn't have to do that.

if you're having trouble with them, call or email. they're very nice to work with. they get back to you right away.

In regard to Martin's cages, what are the differences between the powdercoated and pvc coated? Is the powdercoated that much better?  I got a collapsable travel cage from them and it is coated (not powder) so it must be pvc--I love it, the coating seems to be thicker and didn't scratch at all when hanging the hammocks.

Even though i don't have my martins yet, obviously as ijust ordered it yesterday, i think they look like great cages and have heard nothing but positive things about them around here. Smiley I can't wait to get mine so i can get a new little one for gypsy to play with.  Hyper

Powdercoated is lighter (weight wise) and a little more durable. PVC is a bad thing if you have determined chewers. It's also very heavy.

i have found that PVC lasts longer than powdercoating though, in terms of daily wear (where the cage clips, when scrubbing, etc. if you DO have biters, the adjacent areas dont scrub off if you have PVC Smiley

Hamtaro, email the owner. He's very nice!!!
Be sure you can quarantine though, before emailing, because the two boys i got seem to maybe have slight colds. (either that or are exhibiting symptoms from stress of moving to a new home)
