how much exercise?

Hey there

Was just wondering how much out of the cage exercise time your ratties get.

As our rooms aren't rat proof and one of our numerous sets of guys is a little hell raiser we can't really let them roam around free all day. They currently get 30/40mins out of cage time 6/7 days a week. Do you think is too little? They all have multi level cages with plenty of tubes and perches to play with.

My girls get at least a couple of hours a day out of their cage.  I read somewhere that about an hour is good.  But, my girls are very hyper and LOVE their playtime, so I keep them out as much as possible.

I take my girls out whenever I'm home. They have their own room, but I don't trust Divina Kuh who can reach just about everything, included the top of my closet and the window. SO, when I'm home, they are out. At least three to four hours a day. My girls have a huge entertainment center for a cage. You can't really call that thing a cage...

I play with my rats for about 45 mins a day. They are very mischevious and my parents are very strict, so all playtime must be closely supervised, (I can't even have them on my lap when I'm watching tv or something like that) and that gets sort of boring after a while.

Mine have an open cage during most days (there is only the top and sides of the cage to climb on and some nearby shelves to explore, but no way to get to the floor, that they have discovered yet, anyway) and usually between 45 mins to an hour of romping time, though I'm afraid it is confined to my bed. I don't really have a rattie proofed room yet, but I will in a few weeks. My Ruud is on its way!!!  That'll more than make up for it, I hope.
