My sister lost her boy this past spring and is looking to get a new pair of ratties.  Hyper Are there any breders or rescues near burlington VT?  She would probably be looking for young males.  If you know of anyone, could you post the web address here?

Kim's Ark has gone past Burlington, VT on several occasions. Email us at adopt@kimsarkrescue.org for an application.

There is also Kimmy's shelter in Maine. Transport can usually be arranged. Both rescues are awesome! (I have 2 from Kimmy & 1 from Kim) Wink

I just wanted to pop in and say that I'm glad to know there are other rattie lovers in my area Blue Dumbo Smile I live in Barre, VT, about 40 minutes from Burlington and go there frequently. I just had a rat give birth a few weeks ago and decided to keep the babies, but if I had known about your sister when the babies were first born, I would have definitely considered adopting a couple males out. Well, glad to know there are other rat loving people in VT! I'd check the humane societies as well as kims ark, as they sometimes have rats available. If all else fails, I'd definitely give Kim a call  Smiley

Kimmy's website is www.arlgp.org if you want to fill out an application for adoption.  I can transport ratties over to Peterborough, NH, on the Southern VT border.  I was in there yesterday and she's got some gorgeous babies!!   Blue Dumbo Smile

I'll let my sis know about all these adoption options.
Are there any breeders in the general area?  Previously we had a pet store rat - it might be nice to get one with genetic lines that can be traced for health issues.

Here is one in NH called Oh Rats Rodentry, but I am terrible at spotting good breeders from bad ones. I'm sure some people on here will help you though. Alot of people on here can tell if a breeder is good or bad just by looking at their wording, pictures, promises, etc.

I have two baby boys from Typhani's currently weaned litter.  They are absolutely fantastic little guys!!!  Mom is sweet (Lila), Dad is a mellow friendly guy(Tavi) --in fact all of her rats were wonderful!! There are four little black and white dumbo boys and one beige and white ruby eyed (vari hoods) left I believe and they are adorable!! Silky coats, curious and friendly--well socialized and playful.  I have one of the ruby eyed beige vari hoods and an american blue vari hood.   Wanted to take them all--already have four five month olds and the two new.  The cages were clean, rats looked happy.  She has had rats since she was ten years old and is very knowledgable.  Just wanted to give a good reference!!! http://bricabracrat.com/ohratsrodentry/babyadoption.html      --to view the babies  --I also had to convince her to let me come look at them, she is very responsible about quarantine and not letting strangers near her rats.  I basically stayed out of the house all day and did not go see mine until after we got home that night.
