8 Rats, 8 gerbils, 2 cats, & many fish in a T.V.

WWW
« on: September 10, 2004, 12:20:58 PM »

Things no matter how unexpected sometimes happen quickly.

Hubby and I are suddenly in the position where we have to make an international move in the next month or so.? We have discussed extensively the Michigan area prevalence of rat viruses and their absence in Canada and have decided the most responsible thing to do is leave our rodents here in the US.? My cats have current vaccinations and therefor will be the only pets we will be able to take.

I need to find homes for the following ASAP.? Although we plan on obtaining some new ratties once we get settled in our new home we are offering ALL of our cages with what we have now to facilitate finding the best homes possible

5 female rats including 4 level cube cage

15 male rats

which I have my 4 level cube cage and my huge rat palace to offer with.? The rat palace is currently configured to house 2 separate groups of rats but can be modified.

(the other male cage is like the girls cage but has an external stairwell attached but still fits in the same catch pan.)

1 black-eyed white longhaired hamster in a 10 gal tank with a tank topper

4 male gerbils in a 20 gal tank with lid

2 female gerbils in a 10 gal tank with lid

EMAIL theFLYonWALL@twmi.rr.com to inquire about any if these sweetys!

Where in Michigan are you located, and do you have pictures of the rats (and hamsters, and gerbils)?

I wasn't aware that the US had any rat viruses that Canada doesn't have.  I would like to know more, being near the MI/Canadian border....

Males:

The male cube cage is a tad bigger than this one, as it has a stairwell attached to one end but it still fits in the same pan:

Info on the Super Rat Palace. The palace is 33 inches wide, 22 inches deep and a whopping 68 inches high. This palace houses two separate groups, each of which have one full level and three half levels. Each group has their own house, long tunnel, rope ladder and wire ramp along with plenty of toys to keep them active.  Also both groups enjoy plenty of interaction through the bars and floors.

AVAILABLE NOW WITH 14 RATS INCLUDED!

The rat cage calculator says this palace will house 14 rats in the upmost of comfort.

where do you live and how much would it be to buy them?
Boys or girls??
I would take them, I have 3 girlies, but i really would like boys, and that rat palace!!
I am 14, and I could try to get  arrangments to come to the U.S or you come to Canada. Where are you moving to?? I live near T.o, I would really like it if you could bring them though...hmm

bringing them within an hour of you is not the problem (As we are moving to the Niagara Region).... the problem is that without a 90-day quarantine followed by a successful ELISA panel I do not want to bring these rats to Canada (or I would keep them myself) I feel strongly about keeping the Michigan area problems contained to the Michigan area.

Why not do the quarantine and test, then? I couldn't picture ever giving up my babies, even if I moved to Timbuktu.

IF you can get teh gribls and hamster down to Galion, OH they can live here. I have plenty of space for a few more small critters that need homes. Let me know.

Considering I am homing the result of 2 accidental litters (there were a grand total of 27 accidents) I understand completely.

As for Sunilata's comment:
Why not do the quarantine and test, then? I couldn't picture ever giving up my babies, even if I moved to Timbuktu.

1. I am homing the rest of the result of 2 accidental litters and 3 MALES I rescued from an almost certain death.
2. I don't have 90 days to do the full quarantine.
3. I have already homed all the rats I had the emotional attachment to.
4. I don't yet have work lined up (hence I don't want to take rats with me if my ability care for them may be in question.)
5. It is my full intention to create good karma by rescuing several FEMALE rats in Canada when I am on my feet and able to provide them with the care they need.

The adoption thread should be for just that, adoptions.... it is not a thread for debating and I should not have to defend myself for acting in the best interest of these rats.
