Urgent! Male Rat in IL
«

Hey,
Some of you know about a rat that was postedon petfinder in IL. He name is Ratty and I believe he is a blue or blue hooded? Well he needs a home urgently! He is currently living outside, cageless! If anyone can take him let me know. I will even foster him for awhiel if you cannot take him yet. I am gonig to try to get him, if he is close enough. Here is the email his "owner" sent:
NO!!!
I have not. He is in need of a home as my landlord is getting violent over the situation now. He is such a good ratty. He does not even have a cage now as my landlord made me get rid of it. (It was "the rat palace," a conglomeration of cardboard boxes glued and taped together. Since it was outdoors, the rain pretty much destroyed it anyway.) I am getting worried about cats in the neighborhood. Ratty (or Rat-A-Tat-Tatty as he is known more frequently now, Tatty for short) hangs out in the yard and has a cupboard he calls home. It is actually quite nice. There are downspouts and eves he runs around in and a whole section of lattice that he climbs. He is quite the sweetie but very willful and stubborn with that much freedom. Likes his chinny-chin-chin rubbed. And his front toesies.
Do you think that you might be able to offer him a home?
What I originally wrote to her:
DId you find ratty a home?
Sincerely,
Lisa

Lisa,
I was the first to get in touch with her as Ratty was in Kankakee and I work down there.....but she never responded back to me and I ended up getting 2 boys. so then she gets ahold of me and I didnt have place for 2 quarentines. I did email melina about it though and forwarded the message that she sent me
The second email I got from her basially said she lived with her parents and that the rat was living on her dad's work bench...also her 5yo son grabbed him by the tail and degloved it. half of it had turned black and she was waiting for it to fall off which is why she never responded back.
I do hope you can rescue the poor guy...he is very neglicted from the email I got from her. keep me posted.

I could foster and rehome him if someone can get him to me. (either to Detroit or Grand Rapids, MI)

It won't be necessary to take him out of state at this time. We've tried innumerable times to get this boy out of there but she has never replied to any emails. We've been trying to get ahold of her for about two months now. I hope Lisa can establish a workable communication with her and get this boy either into her care or ours as this boy definitely needs some serious help.

I don't know why she even bothered to put her ad for Ratty on Petfinder if she never wanted to find a home for him! Some people!

Hi,
I got in touch with her today. I told her I would take Ratty. I will at least get him out of there and then we can decide who he should be placed with. I want to try to go down there this weekend, unless someoen else wants too. Im waiting for her email back.

Hey Everyone,
Well Ratty's owner Ann stopped talking to me. I used another one of my email addresses and pretended I was someone else. Well I got her to trust me and I am going to pick Ratty up in an hour. I'll let you know how it goes. And he might be up for adoption if anyone is interested. Ill post when I get him.
Bye

He was born in May and he is so tiny for beign about 5 months. Like my rat Reno is 6-7 months and is easily double his size. Also, I kind of want to rename Ratty. DO you guys think I should?

Yes part of his tail had been degloved. I asked Lisa and she said it looked healed up and doesn't bother him.

I bet there's a special place up above for all those who go to such lengths
to save one of the Creator's creatures.
Good job, Lisa and I hope he has a very long and happy life wherever he
goes. It's gotta be better than the one he was living.

He is such a good rat. He responds to the name Ratty so I may keep it. But I was also thinking of naming him Goose.

Well, if you are ever in the neighborhood (Los Angeles), I would take him in a heart beat.
I just saw this thread for the first time and am so happy you finally got him. I was wondering if it was a prank since she wasn't replying.
Good luck in finding him a home.
