Hi

Dickens has been on Baytril since Monday just gone for a respatory infection. He has got a little better, ut may main concern is that he will not eat or drink. At the moment we are feeding him water (with a little sugar and salt dissolved in it) by a needless sringe, but he will only take about 15ml a day. As far as food is concerned he eats about one small rat treat and a small piece of fresh banana a day and will occassionally lick some ja off a piece of bread. He won't toutch anything else, including babyfood, porridge etc. He has now lost 80/90g this last week. So we were wondering if you guys new of any products that can be bought in the United Kingdom which would put some weight back on him. As he seems to want to be active and come out of his cage at times (before the illness you couldn't keep him in his cage for love or money!) but just lacks any energy.

Any advise appreciated.

I use Enervite (it's the same as nutrical, ferretvite etc) and basically a high calorie vitamin supplement that also increases appetite.
I found it in the dog medication aisle in Pets at Home, I'm not sure if smaller pet shops carry it or not.

Thanks for the tip Squeaky. We have a good sized pets at home store that Dickens is actually being treated at, so when I'm there in the next couple of days I'll take a look.

Cheers

yep - Enervite is a definate.

Have you tried Complan and Complan with Oats? It's a build up drink, has everything in it and all you do is add water or soya milk (my lot only like the 'original' flavour). I offer the complan with oats warm or cold and it's always been a favourite.
You can get them in Superdrug, Boots and most pharmacies.
