Pouched Rat

« on: November 02, 2004, 11:38:05 AM »

I'll get pictures up eventually..  but I don't have the internet still..  gotta use college computers.

Anyway, I decided to take one of the mothers with babies to raise, and make sure that the babies were socialized well.  There are 14 babies (17 total but three died) and the mother.

The mother is an evil rat.  I may wind up keeping her, and working with her because she's VERY antisocial and nasty.  She's a black hooded variegated.. with white markings on her forehead.  There are three PEW babies (one rex), and the rest are black or black berkshire in both rex and straight coat.  they're currently 1 week old.

Story-  a young boy dropped them as well as a LOT of pregnant rats off at Petco here..  Unfortunately the manager has to get rid of them soon to make room for 30 hamsters coming in... so they'll probably be given to Petcos everywhere.  They can't sell them because they're not theirs... so they'll be given away free..

THERE WAS A DALMATIAN BABY and I was VERY good not to get her.... since Doll passed away not long ago.

some belly patterns are coming in on the black ones.. omg they're absolutely adorable!!  we have some IRISH!  there are cute little white bellies on others, and one has white going wayyy up the sides (one of my personal favorites, he was grooming me and he's only a bit over a week old!)

the mother's beautiful like I said, but nasty.. she's definitely staying with me.

I can transport pretty much anywhere on the northeast.  NY, PA, MD, VA, NJ, etc etc etc

EDIT!!!!

The three PEWs aren't pew at all!  they're a light tan color, with pinkish red eyes.  I noticed it today because I saw a definite white berkshire belly on one of them, and as I kept looking, they're definitely NOT pure white colored

this is a BUMP and an update!

they're VERY VERY cute right now!!  wish I could get pics online but I still don't have the internet and use a college computer...

Aaanyway, the PEW are definitely NOT PEW, but look like champagne.  some blacks are lighter "charcoal", and they all are either berkshire, or irish marked.  the rexes are uber cute and very frizzy!

they chase my hand around and play with it, and love to give constant kisses and licks

the mother's staying with me, since she's VERY antisocial and a massive biter

BUMPING!   they're so so so cute!  I have pics, but I'll post them online probably later tonight (GOT THE INTERNET YEAY!!)  they'll be ready to go in December, and please PM me or E-mail me at gambianrattie@aol.com if you're interested.  they're 10 dollars a same-sex pair and I won't let them go singly unless you can prove you have rats already.

They're VERY affectionate and want nothing more than to sit in your lap or on your shoulder grooming you...  I'm so happy I have been able to handle them since day one.. because these are my dream rats

/edit-

PICTURES!!!

this is how rexy-like the rexes are currently-

They're very affectionate, like I said..  They're currently sectioned off in my RUUD cage, and are usually CLUNG to the door to get out whenever you walk by.

Cookie Cookie BUMP! cute, playful babies, great colors. I'm sure someone on the East Coast will see these babies and scoop some up! Good luck finding their new families!

I might be interested in a pair.  Are the previous posts still correct as far as what you have?

If your not interested in adopting these out anymore maybe you should post a follow up message that they are no longer avaliable.   Almost 2 weeks with no response is sort of rude.

I was gonna just let this go but its just rubbing me the wrong way.  All the posts of here with people looking to adopt out and she just wants to crowd up the forum with an ad that she has no interest in going back and checking or is just too rude to respond to.

Whats really getting me is she has responded to numerous other threads on other topics since I first made my inquiry.

Often times people forget they have posted in another thread, especially if they have found available rattie homes. Try sending a pm to the person rather than getting all bent out of shape.

Good point, Goose.  Or send an email, it is listed in her profile.

I had sended a PM and got no response there either.  A week later she finally explained she lost track of my email.  We weren't getting bent out of shape over nothing.
