Melanie and the Acrobat Rats!

« on: April 19, 2002, 10:42:02 PM »

I want to know what is the oldest age you can breed boys for the first time without risking it being too late.  I know for sure age 2 it too old as I had experience with a old male at two that was not interested anymore.  I was thinking the 1 year or 1 1/2 year mark would be good.

AND I would like to also know if anyone in the Michigan or Ohio area would be interested in co-breeding your female with one of my gorgeous males in the future.  I am willing to keep all the males of the litter.  This would be happening in the fall.  I need to know soon if anyone in my area is interested, or I will have to start thinking about raising two females.

I have two boys I want to breed.  Marty is a large gorgeous standard hood; and Abu is a beautiful agouti variegated dumbo from California.  His brother is in the picture on the left.  I will post pictures soon when I get them on a web site.

I don't think they ever get to old...until they go and get 2 excited and have a heart attack cause they can't stand the pasion...or is that only in humans?  That happened in forces of nature, right?  Can't reember...some movie with a lady and baloons.
Lol, I wish I was in your area...so why aren't you conidering breeding kiwi?

Kiwi is a love and has great markings, but is a little on the small side for breeding.  He has also had one major break out with myco and that is not good for breeding either.  His brother Abu is much bigger and healthier and also has great markings.  Abu seems llike the better candidate.

I am only breeding one brother from each of the two rat families that I have.  That way I get to keep the lines going and enjoy their sons without too many ratties  Grin
