Oh my!  Shocked All those ratties!! I'm in CA, but I doubt my parents would let me get any more right now (one of the many joys of being a minor  Roll Eyes ). I'll talk to them about it, though.

Oh Therese, thats so awesome of you. I too would like to offer my services. I don't have any room at the moment for any rats but if I can be a go-between if there needs to be a transport from California to...wherever, I'm in Las Vegas and I would LOVE to help. If there is anything else you need, well...just let me know.

okay you guys 42 left. darren is on hold for someone. and we have many people in sac and LA getting ratties. The rest of these guys will hopefully get homes within the next 3 days. We are only looking for permanent homes at this time since we have had such a great response. Potential foster homes will be called if needed. Also i am sorry that i don't have concrete dates yet but i am still definitely coming to Sac and LA. these dates should be confirmed by the end of today/mid-day tomorrow. As for the SF chronicle article. The people who provided info are not part of The SFACC staff or volunteers and they are spreading information that is not credible. The rats are doing fine and the woman who dropped them off was fantastic for doing so. They were not her rats and there is no investigation being done regarding any animal abuse claims. Thanks.

At this point, I think Helen Keller knows Darren is taken. Cheeky

Re: the article - it was a little strange.  I couldn't understand the lab comment.  They just euthanize - not drop off on someone's lawn.  I wish reporters would speak with the correct people.

It sounds like there may not be much of a need for an LA run - besides the few people who have theirs on hold.  It would be great if they all found homes up there as we are bombarded already down here.

okay down to 36 and we have definite homes for darren (not one of the 178 but still very important) two boys to elle and we have 6 definite people coming tomorrow to take another 12 or so. looks like we won't need to get any foster homes as long as we keep the numbers dropping. i appreciate everything that all of you have done to help us out. And especially to rattie ratz who is fostering 64 and michelle who spent most of saturday sorting through every rat for an evalution and sex check. The rats are doing great and the media came to do an interview today and hopefully the chronicle will be doing a column (with valid info) by the end of the week. maybe a ratty xmas? anyways i will post again tomorrow but since i am going to LA the beginning of January is there anyone else who needs me to bring some ratty love with me?

How are the adoptions going?  Have they all been placed?  We are filling up fast in So Cal as we will be taking more in on Sunday.  I was just wondering what the update was.

the update as of 12/23 we have only 17 rats up for adoption. everyone else has been placed in a permanent home. 11 of these cuties are at a foster home and the other 6 at the shelter. we have been noted in many newspapers across the nation and nbc news did a story on all the rats. luckily the bad publicity has died down and now everyone is aware of the actual facts as to how we ended up with all these rats. I will be in LA from the 8th-10th. I will be bringing 3 rats down with me to place in their permanent homes. If there is anyone else interested in a rat in the LA area please email me asap. The cuties in foster care are baby boys around 8 weeks old. also is it still possible for anyone to make a trip down to san diego? fenella emailed me and said she could take a g. pig and we have one that has been at the shelter for 2 months.

I can still meet up with you - no problem.  Are you driving down here on the 8th or on the 7th?  It will be easier for me to meet up with you on the 8th but if we have to do it on the 9th, I can manage it.  I was hoping you had placed most of them as I wasn't sure how many the groups down here could take.  You all have done a wonderful job.   Party

I can meet up with somebody and take the GP to Fenella.  I'm close to Escondido.

That just might work.  When are you available?  I'm supposed to go to San Diego to pick up 2 rats but I know Fenella lives waaaay down there so that might really help me as it will be a long day.

I will meet you and take the piggie and then meet Menagerie92117 in San Diego and she will get him to Fenella.  (Menag is with Wee Companions) I need to meet up with Menag so I can pick up some rats so we will meet up and do an exchange.  I guess we can PM from here and work out the details.

Update: 12/31/04
i went to the shelter this morning and we have very few rats left. 2 males and 5 females. the males are in the small animal room ready to go but the girls are still in the back. 3 are possible pregos and need another week to be spayed and the other 2 ladies are being treated for lice. we also have and additional 8 boys in a foster home (2 months old). so everything is going extremely well and hopefully everyone will be safe for a while. Darren is at my home ready for his trip to LA. Still itchy but happy to have real food.  Elle's 2 boys are still at the shelter in isolation waiting to be neutered on tuesday or wednesday. Shantidass, I talked to fenella and she is happy to take the piggy. Could you email me with your number so we can figure out a meeting place for next saturday? Thank you all for your help and if there are any other adopters in the LA area or san diego area (and can get to wee companions) let me know by monday. I'll give you another update before i head to LA. I really do appreciate all that you guys have done to help out. Without this forum we wouldn't be in the happy state we are in. thanks.
