cross posting from ratpalace
http://ratpalace.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=13652

"My parents are forcing me to get rid of all of my rats. I have one week to do so. I have found a home for my girls but I cant find one for my boys. I have 3 boys about 8 months old, and 3 baby boys about 2 months old. They said if I dont get rid of them ASAP they will release them outside.

I live in Fredericksburg, VA and have limited transportation. My AOL Instant Messenger is shotgunroulette and my email is a_fire_insyde@hotmail.com.

If anyone is interested, please contact me and we can work out transportation.

Thanks.
Trevor"

i am guessing that his dad didn't like that one of the rats had babies. a petsmart with an all male policy sold him a female, and suprise! babies. the petsmart said he could bring the girl back but he decided not to and wanted to keep her. but dad has now given him an ultimatum... the kind that we don't like.

Do these boys come with a cage?  I may be able to foster them until they can find a permanent home, giving them a bit more time.  However, I do not have a spare cage unfortunately, and don't have the money to just go out and buy one.  Fredericksburg is only an hour away from me.

At RatPalace I have already contacted him about it and I may be able to get the rats. I just need help with transport. I live in Williamsburg, KY and it's about 6 to 8 hours, I do believe.

I'm not able to foster, but I do have a cage I would gladly give to Tizzrah.  Since I am only 15 minutes north of Fredericksburg and 1 hr 15 mins from Richmond where she lives, I am sure we can work something out.  Let me know if I can help.

That's great, Arlene.  Well?  Is anyone else getting these rats, or do I have to step in to foster?

Kim, if you could try and place them while they're with me, that'd be great.

Updates?

I have contacted this person directly. One of the rats got into his/her parent's room during the night. They flipped out about getting diseases and such from the rats and said the rats had to go or they would be released outside. This person won't report his/her parents if they release the rats outside because he/she does not want to risk getting kicked out of the house. The parents WILL release the rats outside if they are not out of the house after a week. The female rats are going to a friend of his/hers and the cage and accessories are going with them. The cage is divided down the middle, so the boys and girls were seperate, but this means that the boys don't come with a cage or any accessories. They are said to be very friendly and healthy and are well socialized from tons of daily playtime.

His/her girlfriend will put the rats in her rat cage (she has a RUUD she's going to divide for him/her) until they find a home - so now the risk of them being put outside is gone, but they still don't have a home. I can foster the rats, but I'm in Louisville, Kentucky, so not close enough to help. Someone on Ratpalace from Maryland offered to help transport, if that helps anyone in the area interested in these 6 boys.

I was just about to say the same thing, Brittany. I am going to be taking the rats, here in Williamsburg Kentucky, and I am now going to post at the Rat Transport group to see if I can get some help getting them from there to here. It is no longer an emergency, but still semi-urgent. They now have a month to get from there to here which I'm definitly sure can be arranged

I would be willing to give the boys a ride to VA Beach, VA if that would help.

I have 2 cages I'm willing to donate (I'm in NC) I have a 695 and an old ferret cage, too--and I may be able to take one boy if there's no other home lined up...

I feel that in the best interest of the rats that they will be placed in homes closer to the current owner. They still have, at the most, a month to find a home but I'm afraid that transportation will be near impossible to get them here soon, so they're back up for adoption and I am dissapointed but it'd be way better for them. There is one beige, two black and white hooded, one light gray, and one black. I haven't seen any pictures but according to the owner that is their colors.

Are you goinjg to foster these boys, Tizzrah?  I will gladly bring them and a cage to you when I go to VA beach next week.  Is there an update on these boys?

I talked to Trevor online and he told me that he doesn't even know what's going on.  Apparently (and this is what he told me), he has a home for the boys now, and NOT the girls.  Honestly, the way he talked, it didn't sound as if it was as urgent as he sounded in his post.   Tongue  So you know what.. when somebody lets me know what's going on, I guess I'll decide from there.
