Rats are my obsession!
Hairless Boys in Arizona

A new petstore opened up and I went in to look around and noticed that unfortunately their rats where not separated by sex. I knew I should leave at that point, but Willie begged me to take her home and I couldn't resist. Well, as can happen, she gave birth to 8 babies. 5 of them are males, which since I prefer females is a tad too many for me. I am looking to see if anyone would like to adopt one, or two, or even three if they really like hairless. I am not positive about my rat genetics, I thought she was a double rex (which I thought sometimes results in not much hair, except on the face and fuzz on the body) instead of a true hairless. Well anyways, the babies don't have hair. They are about 2 months old at this point. They have had human contact everyday but are a little skittish since until recently I wasn't able to give them tons of attention. They are sweet boys (but of course what rat isn't?).
I don't know where my digital camera is, but when I find it I will post pictures.
As for markings, all of them have faint dark color and then pinkish skin. Two are marked like a berkershire, one with an all pink belly and the other with just a small line, and the remaining three are hooded with different stripes down the back. If you are interesting in adopting, let me know. As long as you already own another male rat I don't mind just one being adopted.

I am in Tucson, but I also go to Phoenix a lot also, so essentially those are my two locations.

What Pet Store did you get her from? I have a male hairless that just lost his cagemate and am looking for a female. He was just neutered yesterday. I live in Tucson. Let me know...Thanks!

I really don't encourage buying from them because they are not a good store. When I saw their rats they were waaaaaay overcrowded (think smaller cage then rats at petsmart, with about 4 times the amount in the cage) and they didn't separate sexes, which is always a bad sign. In addition they sell feeders. As it was I only got a rat because Willie was calling to me and I also got her a sister since I didn't have any rats except one male. Then the dumbo rat I had gotten died after two days, so obviously health issues at that store. That being said it is your choice and I got her at Petland (I think that is the name) in the shopping plaza of wetmore and first. But since you have a male, are you sure you don't want to consider one of my lovely boys? They are young enough that introducing shouldn't be too difficult, plus it won't cost you, and you won't have to worry about them being mistreated or ill.

I got my two rats at Petsmart and one died two weeks after I got him. It was so sad! Do you think the boys are in good health, I really don't want to go through that again. I may consider getting a male if he is in good health.
Thanks

Well as much as i know about rats, they are all in good health. Active, no snuffles, eat well. They were born December 6th. I have no problem keeping them, it is just that I prefer to have a few less males. In addition some of their markings are the similar enough that I have problems telling them apart so I feel like I am not getting to know their individual personalities. If no one ends up wanting any, then I imagine one of them is getting a colored mark on his back so I can separate them out.
They are sweet boys, they like people and come running to the cage when you go near it. They are only skittish with loud noises when out of the cage. Anyways if you are interested let me know with a pm, becuase soon I will be to attached to let any go.

I sent you an e-mail JayBee, just thought I woudl tell you in case you check this more often then your e-mail.
I think we can see about a rattie adoption working out.
Swoozeeinc, a pm is a private message...I haven't done one before, only recieved, but I think you just click on their name and then it gives you an option to pm...just for future reference.

I got my two today.
They are sweet, friendly, healthy, and have the most beautiful skin markings that I have ever seen. After much bruxing and kissing, they are having a nap. Can't wait till they wake up. You did a fantastic job raising them Elaken. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
