Hoping to find a companion soon for our 1-1/2-year-old guy who recently lost his brother in Dec. and just before that their older companion in Nov.

Looking for one rat around 1 to 1-1/2 years old, either a spayed older girl or a smaller older boy (neutered or not), as Momo is a fairly small guy (even more so after recovering from being ill not so long ago). We're really hoping to get a buddy as close to his age as possible, that's a priority, as well as one who's not a whole lot bigger than a pound (~500 gm) or so, hopefully.

Thanks for any leads. Poor little guy is languishing ... not so much from loneliness, I think, as from just plain ol' boredom ... even though we play with him constantly, pampering him even more now, of course. But it's just not quite the same as having a ratty bud to hang with.  Blue Dumbo Big Eyes

We live in the East Bay area, across the bay from San Francisco.

Contact Rattie Ratz, they are in the bay area. They are a rescue group and good people.

Thanks.  Sorry, I should have said that I've already been in contact with or checked what's available through all the local rescue groups and humane societies and shelters.  I've also been getting some leads (which haven't panned out yet, obviously) from the wonderful rat mom and rescuer who brought Momo and Noli to us, who is closely involved with Marin Humane and was (and still is?) a foster mom for Rattie Ratz, which is how we got the brothers, actually, via a referral to her through them.  So Momo is essentially a Rattie Ratz "graduate" himself.   Blue Dumbo Smile  (and yes, indeed, they are very good people, and it's a great organization)  I think some of the SFACC rats are still available through Rattie Ratz, but they're all much younger than what we're looking for.

actually, lots of the SFACC rats that Rattie Ratz took included full grown adults. I know that they also mentioned they have quite a few rats in their twilight years who have been at the shelter a while because most people want babies. I'd 2nd the suggestion to ask Diane what you are looking for- their monthly adoption fair is tomorrow, and she could probably bring a few of what you are looking for. Grin

Thanks, Meeshki (I'd like some of that coffee too, please  Blue Dumbo Smile).

I'm afraid I couldn't possibly be making it to the current Rattie Ratz faire, as I've got about 10-15 hours of work to do today.     It's hopefully a moot point anyway, as I think we've now got something lined up for getting an older girl from an Oakland shelter.  She's probably a little more in need of finding a home than the Rattie Ratz furries, actually, since we know that they're all 'safe' now at least .

I wonder why Rattie Ratz doesn't put up pictures of their older denizens, those in their "twilight years," also?  Blue Dumbo Big Eyes  Petfinder.org list  That might have saved me some hassle to have known that fact earlier, but I was mainly going by that Petfinder listing (maybe should have tried to contact them to double-check, but I guess I was too tired for it to occur to me that there might be others besides those there).

Anyway, thanks for all of your help.  Cookie  Keep your fingers crossed, send good vibes, whatever, that things work out with this girl we're hoping to get soon.

Rattie Ratz has so many animals in their care that they can't possibly list them all. It is always better to call any rescue to see what they have rather than relying on a web page.
