That is Mowgley's cage. He came with it. In it he has an igloo on the top floor, 2 hammocks (one on each level) and a tunnel made from pvc pipe on the bottom level, a box (i brought it home from work, it used to have medical gloves in it) and he has a little ball with a bell inside it. I am planning on adding a wheel and switching out the hammocks for 2 new ones and adding more toys.

This is Baxter's cage, its an All Living Things cage. Its a bit sparse because I took out the hammocks. Baxter is about 2 1/2 years old and he kept having trouble getting into the hammock then falling out of it so I took out his hammock. His cagemate passed on 3 months ago and attempts to introduce him to my other baby boys have not been successful so Baxter lives alone.
He spends most of his time in the igloo and he only can stand about 30 seconds of free range time before going back to his cage.

I am finally posting decorating pics of Bailey and Merrick's cage. My dad and I built it ourselves out of two kitchen cabinets. The boys have been living in it since April.
Inside they have, two hammocks, two ropes, a litter pan, igloo, two bowls, a Tshaped PVC pipe, two hanging baskets, a hanging toy, a tire swing, food dishes, and a water bottle. I have a wheel for them (in fact, if you look above their polka dotted hammock, you can see the hole where it attaches to the cage) but they were afraid of it and refused use the entire second level when it was in the cage.
Now for pictures!
With the door closed:
Door open:
The upper levels, showing their home-made hammocks and tire swing:
The two cabinets open up for easy cleaning. I absolutely love this feature of the cage.
And lastly, a picture of the cuties inside of their home

Here is my new cage. It is actually made of two cages put together, both of which I got off of Freecycle. The calc says it can hold seven rats but it is currently holding three.

Well, here's my cage. It's a Martin's 670, with a wheel (that they actually use), a couple fun hammocks (one homemade!), bird toys, an igloo, and more lab blocks and greenies stashed away inside of it than they know what to with. Lots of purple, too!
I had those nice Critter Canteen water bottles, but they never used them! I ended up buying the cheapest flimsiest water bottles they had at Wal-Mart, because it's all they'll drink out of. Oh well.

That is way better than the other small cage you had.
What kind of base does this cage have? I can't tell from the picture!

I combined two cages

I just combined two cages to make an Xtra large cage for my six boys. I had a super pet Xtra large and a super pet large so I combined them to make a cage that is 49 inches tall, 18 inches deep and 40 inches wide.
Here are the before and after pics.
I have not finished decorating yet, but so far I have three igloos, a hammock, three water bottles, four litter pans, several ferret tubes and one pvc pipe. There are also ten different levels for the boys to frolic on! I have a lot of shelves in there because I ordered several from the super pet site so I could make better use of the cage.

Okay, it's taken me forever (or so it seems), but I'm getting there. The boys got to move into their new home on Saturday. They seem to like all the space. I still need to get some more "stuff" to put in here. I washed their things, so I can put some of those in, but I have plans for adding to this cage!
They wore me out during "playtime"! They decided they LOVED climbing up the cart and onto the cage. The landings were scaring me, so I took the HEAVY cage off and put it on the bed. They still climbed around on the cart (shoulda took pics of them walking around on the 3/4" frame like it was nothing, but I was too nervous when they ended up falling off, onto the edge of the metal shelf below). So I spent most of their playtime plucking them off and saying "No!" in my firm voice. Didn't work. One by one, after about 10 pluckings apiece for my rowdy explorers, Gollum and Strider, I plucked them and plunked them into their cage. These pics are from tonight.
This is the green version of the cage that's being bought like crazy by people on this forum.
I like it in a lot of ways, even though I had to modify it quite a bit. I zip-tied lots of plastic canvas to it. On the floor (just didn't like the set-up without it, there were sharp edges that I was afraid they would get cut on), on the shelves, and around the bottom edge to help keep bedding in. Then I discovered a gap across the front and back that had to be "sealed" with more plastic canvas and zip-ties, because the YN was leaking through.
The doors are a good size, I think (I'm not all familiar with this stuff - yet). They allow good access to all areas of the cage.
I ended up taking one of the ladders out because they were mostly climbing their "stuff" to get to the lower shelf. The HUGE hammock/safety net is mostly how they get up there. They don't pile into it like I had hoped though.
I used two of the perches to brace their dishes so they don't fall off the shelf their on. The plastic canvas made it very slippery under the plastic dishes. So far it's working well. I still have their hat to hang back in since I washed it, and I want to make a few tubes to hang (one to hang, one to be cleaned). I still need to make another hammock/safety net as well.
I really, really, REALLY love having it on the cart. They "sleep" (I wish) in my bedroom so the cats can't get to them, and it's so much easier to roll this big cage in, than it was to carry my Martin's 670. I'm just going to have to think of another way of getting them to their playroom now. I am too scared they'd really get hurt falling off the cart or cage.
I hope you enjoyed our tour.

I finally got pics of my flight cage, but first I'll show off the large cage my brother and I made. It's the same height and width of a R695, but about 3 less in depth. It's able to house 4, but my lone blue guy, Reggie is in it now. (don't worry, he'll have cagemates once the boys from Kenya's litter are weaned.)
And here's the flight cage
Full view:
Inside bottom:
Inside top:
And here's a photo of an "under-the-shelf" storage rack I picks up at Home Depot. It fit perfectly.
Inside the homemade cage:
2 hammocks (one giant)
2 ramps with 2 shelves
1 litter box at the bottom
1 tissue box
and fleece scraps for nesting, which Reg liked better inside it litter box
Inside the flight cage:
2 homemade hammocks, one giant.
1 large litter box at the bottom, one corner pan at the top
1 wire mesh wheel
2 pvc pipes
2 ramps and 3 shelves with plastic canvas
1 hanging basket at the top, as a little "bunk bed"
PM me if you need more details/have questions/comments.

The first is a shot of their cage from about 10 feet away, Isabell's cage is next to the big one.
The one below the first is to get an idea of size, the person is about 5'7".
Next a close up of Izzy'z cage, it's a small hamster cage but it works for now till she can be put in the big cage.
Last is the large cage broken into three segments.
I think I need more items in my cage, if anyone can suggest what else to put in there (they chew on everything so it needs to be either inexpensive or not easy to destroy) please PM me!

New Martin's R695
«

Here is my new Martin's R695 I bought as a Christmas gift for my 3 baby boys. Its my second Martin's R695 - I lent my other one to somebody so she could adopt rats from my shelter and she still has it so I bought another one last week. I am really not good at decorating, but I am trying. I have one hammock in it, one water bottle (another one in the wash) a wheel, a corner litter pan and a rectangular litter pan, two different style igloos, 1 plastic bin type box, one T shaped ferret tube, one straight ferret tube, one T shaped PVC pipe and a pink plastic tray from the dollar store. The cage still looks bare to me though. I am so glad I spent the extra $10 for the flip top lid, I just love it.

Please ignore my boyfriend's filthy room..
Here is my Martin's R-85 (?). It's home to my two girls, Ally & Bo, and Bo's litter of 11 two-week-old babies!
They have...
- newly installed shag carpet
(I found some scraps in our garage)
- a fleece Indianapolis Colts pocket hammock, I'm making another one to hang from the big shelf, so they'll have 2, though one seems to be enough since Bo doesn't really use hammocks right now anyway.
- pvc pipe, they love to sit in there & munch on things
- lots of cardboard toilet paper roll tubes, we seem to go through a lot of tp o.o
- a cuddle-cup thinger that no one really sleeps in, instead it gets chewed & peed on
- a big purple igloo that no one really uses either
- lots of teenie Greenies, and usually a couple mongo ones tied to the sides to deter bar-chewing, though there's only one right now
- food & water, water is attached to the door so it's easier for me to tell when they need more! (lactating Bo drinks a TON right now) and the food dishes are rather pointless as Ally ends up "stashing" everything in the bottom level back corner anyway
- and lastly, a stone, the idea was so that when they climbed on it, it would file their nails a bit.. but I don't think it works much.
I have a running wheel too that would normally be in there, but I didn't want any of the babies getting stuck underneath it. I'd also like to try & start litter training them when the babies are grown up & moved out, so a pan should be in there sometime soon, too!
You can also see Bo in her nest.. that's where she spends most of her time.
and lazy Ally spends most of her days sleeping away in her hammock.
