Hi there, I've been searching for months for rats that are in need of adoption in this state, but there is no longer any rat rescue in this state and I have had no luck elsewhere. I am now not physically well enough to drive out of state to get the rats, so someone either has to be willing to bring them here or already be located here.
Anyone have ratties in need of a mommy to spoil them rotten and love them for the rest of their lives?

HI there YP!  I am a lonely rat lover in Taos, and have been in the same fix!  No rescues,  no accidental litters in New Mexico that I could find in the last 8 months, except one lady in Clovis who posted on Rat Palace for her April litter -- I don't have her address handy, but if you go to the ratpalace website and look under adoptions, someone recently replied to her old post and that bumped it up to this week again.  She and I emailed a bunch, and she seemed like a very fine rat-person, but I finally decided I should not adopt any more right now, so I didn't. She MAY have already placed the babes from that litter, but she may have some info for you about others. BUt Clovis is pratically in Texas -- Where are you?

I finally got my 2 little guys from Colorado, because a private rescue operation was willing to meet me halfway so I only had a two hour drive to get them.  The southern Colo. shelters and private rescues often have adoptables, but I am guessing from your message that would not help.  ANYHOO - let's keep each other in mind.  I secretly plot constantly about getting another boy ratty  Cheeky ( I have 3 now) but in truth my allergic hubby would not like it so I haven't.  Now, if an urgent, life-or-death adoption came up..... Grin   GOOD LUCK -- JENNIFER (of TaosRats).

Thank you so much for your response! I have messaged the woman in the Rat Palace forum and am eagerly awaiting her reply.
Just to be a devil's advocate, I'll let you know if there are any little boys still up for adoption. After all, what's one more rat (famous last words)?
I'm in Albuquerque, by the way. I can drive for a couple hours each way, and could meet someone halfway or whatever is needed. I would be willing to go farther, but my body won't allow it. Once my husband and I buy a house, I intend on starting a small rat shelter in my home, so maybe within the next few years it will be easier for folks like us to find ratties in need of homes.

I'm in NM as well, though far away from you(Hobbs)...I'm always willing to help with transport if you make prior arrangements with a rescue. I'm very close to the TX border.

Fantastic! I'll keep that in mind as well. Always good to know there are other rat people in the state!
