Has anyone used this bedding and noticed a difference between it an regular Carefresh? Is it worth the extra money, or is the main appeal it's color?

I don't know if it's bleached, but I'm curious too.

I don't know how it's processed, but it sure is pretty!! And yes, it's much better than the regular.  It's not dusty or smell as funny.   As to whether it's worth the extra money, that's your choice.  I use old sheets and tshirts in my cage, and EcoFresh in their litter box.

I used the Ultra once and I loved it - I'm stuck with a big bag of Aspen now that I paid for before I got the Ultra so no new Ultra until the Aspen is used up.  I'm getting so tired of three cages of rats constantly kicking out the Aspen shreds and having them stick in the carpet.  They didn't kick out the Ultra, it made the cage look really awesome, and it was so soft!  I'm going to try it again as soon as my Aspen is gone.

I LOVE ULTRA! It is SO worth the extra money! It is soft and just AWESOME, lasts awhile, and is visually appealing! Right now, I'm can only afford regular carefresh. Is everyone sure aspen is OK/good for the ratties!?!?!? I think I'd like to buy that in bulk (where can you get it?).

You can try the Ark store for that (if you can pick up) or get white tekfresh (which is like carefresh ultra).

I use carefresh and cloth for my ratties bedding, and it helps cut down on their sneezing. I started out with aspen and they were sneezing constantly. It was definitely worth the switch.

I recently decided to try the ultra... and it's definitely less dusty than regular CareFresh. I think I may be making the switch permanently (and going in with a friend to order it instead of getting it at PetsMart), but one thing bugs me about it:

You can see every poop!

LOL! With the regular CareFresh, I didn't see the poop as much, but I decided to use the CF Ultra right before having houseguests, and by the time they arrived, there was a nice pile at the bottom of the ramp, in plain view! GAH!

I don't notice any odor issues with it, but it's been cool and dry here lately. Wait until I have a hot, humid summer day, and ask me again... LOL!

How does the ultra compare to yesterdays news? (besides being prettier)

I originally read all these posts how carefresh smelled and had dust and stirred up people and rat allergies so i was planning on getting yeserdays news for my new babies. Is the ultra better than the yesterdays news?  Blue Dumbo Big Eyes

I aslo plan to litterbox train, so I suppose i need 2 different ones anyway. Which would be better to use where? or is there a better alternative to both.

Thanks Smiley Blue Dumbo Smile

I quit using carefresh a while ago and the only bedding I use is Alpha Dri from shepherd speciality papers http://ssponline.com.  It's way cheaper than carefresh and it lasts way longer.  I just love it Smiley

Honestly, I've never, ever found any foreign matter in my bags of Yesterdays News.  A lot of that looks like it could be something the rats already chewed up and she found in their cages.  I can't imagine one person finding so much 'trash' in their beddings.
