*UPDATE: Jay has temporary care for the rats for over the next two weeks while he is away on business.  This is still an urgent situation, so homes will need to be found as soon as he gets back.

If you are still interested in any of these rats, please email him and he will get with you once he gets back (in 2 wks). Thanks to all who have responded =) *

Currently these rats are owned by a caring, but mentally unstable man who has taken a turn for the worse - At the moment he is showing no signs of being able to even take care of himself.. His brother(Jay) is trying to get him admitted for longterm treatment.  Problem is, is that they need to find homes for approx 15 rats (preferredly by 8/4 - after that, there will be noone to take care of the rats and their only other option is to take them to a local petstore).

These rats are being kept in pairs - mostly hooded, creams and whites - both male/female (kept separately) - Some are nippers due to lack of handling.  Cages, toys, and supplies will be included....If you are interested in adopting, fostering, or rescuing, please contact Jay Scerbak at (216) 308-9795 or email him at jase00@ameritech.net

Thank you Ratkins - I, myself am at max capacity (about 8 over my limit, actually) - I am really hurting that I cannot take them in due to time, space or money - all I can do is hope for the best.

This was not one of those cases where the person getting rid of the rats was like - 'take them or else', even though Jay could care less about the rats (no offense, but he is more concerned about getting his brother the help he needs) -- but even with the short timeframe, he wanted to try to do the best for his brothers rats because  he knows his brother cares for them.   Unfortunately time is an issue, and when it comes down to it, his brother will come first as for what any of them are able to handle at the moment.

Just letting you guys know that there are still some rats from this group that need homes.  The rat's owner(Jay's brother) has stabilized somewhat and is now cleaning cages and feeding the rats again - But his being committed is still a real outcome, so this situation is still urgent and the rats will still need homes.  If interested please contact Jay Scerbak at  jase00@ameritech.net

If there is any way for him to transport some females to me about 4 hours away I can talk to my hubby and see if I can take some to try to adopt out here locally.

Rattmom - that I have no idea about -- From my communications with him, I don't think he'd be able to go that far due to time in his schedule.

But, you never know - you will have to email him and discuss it.   Would you be able to meet halfway?
