Hi, I'm afraid I don't know any breeders but I do know a pet store that often acquires a variety of neat rats. Both PetsMarts in Albuquerque, NM only sell their rats as pets. They often have some interesting types. I have gotten many of my rats there, including two rexes, a blue, and a dumbo (and many other common types). The store doesn't overcrowd their rats (one or two per cage, males and females seperated), doesn't use cedar or pine (I believe it's called Carefresh or something, that grey bedding), puts a lot of toys in there for them, and many of the employees play with them. Of course, I can't speak for where the store got them, but the rats appeared healthy and good mannered. I hope this is useful information.
