Hey all,

Waffles' penis was plugged up about two or so weeks ago.
I unplugged it, no biggie.
It was plugged up again three days ago (but not as much as the first time).
He was so relaxed, that to my surprise he allowed me to pull out his penis to make sure it was okay.
Around the base was a bit of puss. I cleaned that up.
Today, I checked him, and he had puss around the base again, but only a very small amount that time.

Is this something I need to worry about?
Is he going to need medical care beyond me keeping it clean for him?
There's always less to clean which makes me think he'll be all right.
The color of the puss is white.

Thanks ya'll.

I'm not sure, I've seen what you described on male dogs that were apparently healthy otherwise. Maybe give him some cranberries they are supposed to be good for urinary tract health. Other than that I don't know really.

It may not be puss, but the usual build up of normal secretions that male rats have in that area. A rat who won't or can't groom himself there will need help, almost always daily, cleaning in and around his penis. This typically happens in older rats. If he's still a youngster who is otherwise healthy, I'd see a vet. But if he's older and starting to have trouble grooming and/or getting around, I suspect it's the normal stuff he just can't reach anymore.

Oh yeah, he's older. (And far more lazy than he used to be.)
He's about a year and a half? Maybe?
The gal who gave him to me wasn't very clear on his age.
I do happen to have some cranberries, so I'll give that to him and keep him cleaned.
Thanks you two. Azn
