A couple are spoken for, but you're welcome to email me privately and ask about getting certain ones
These are the ones in my safe space
http://www.jotenheim.com/ratrescue.html
Most of these are also adoptable (though not ready)
http://www.jotenheim.com/fosters.html

these are still in Robert's house

I want to add that these animals are in desperate need of homes; if you have the room, you couldn't do a more noble thing than to rescue some of them.

We have all ages and a variety of colors and markings including hooded, berk, and self in black, agouti, beige/tan, and blue. We also have some rexes. We can arrange transport if necessary, and can quarentine them for you as well.

There is a 90% chance (will now in a few days) that I will be driving up there from Southern California , I am in the LA area, in Redondo Beach, I will take supplies if you bring them to me here and pick up rats for people who can pick them up from me in Redondo Beach when I return.

Please check out the Yahoo Group mentioned above for more details! If you have made arrangements to adopt a rat, please let me know as well I want to get an idea of how many people are interested and how much I can transport Smiley

We have a pretty good transport network working on getting these animals all across the country.
Pictures here

If you can, please open your heart to some of these animals.

I read a post... maybe last week.... early this week.... not sure when..... about a man that kept getting furries from a pet store, and the person that posted was upset that they would keep letting him have more since he was taking them home to breed them, and he wasn't mentally able to handle the situation.... or something to that affect.

Is this the same person.... or am I totally around the bend on this? Undecided

I think that's the same guy.
He didn't take them home to breed though, he took them home because he loved them, but he didn't understand why he should separate the sexes and stuff. He's slowly getting it...I hope....

Very few pew's and only about 5 rexes. Some are Robert's special rats, so I'm not sure we're getting them out of there unfortunately.

Just wanted to add, that the ones I'm fostering are very sweet.  They like to be petted and sleep in my sweatshirt.   Smiley

Caitlin's right...both the rats and the mice are incredibly tame, considering the conditions they've been living in.

I don't know how plausible it is to get ratties to PA... but some of the people I know, and trust with animals, have expressed concern and interest in this rescue...

If there was some way to get a few out to PA, then I'd be willing to foster/find homes for some.

I'd be willing to foster or even adopt in the East TN area.  I can't do too much transport at this point cuz my car sucks...but I can try. *grin* Let me know.

Pouched Rat

« Reply #18 on: April 17, 2003, 07:40:48 AM »

you guys are going to make me cave in and request a girlie or two....... I'm in MD and depending on when you guys will be travelling, I can transport all the way up to  central NY.  I make a trip there approximately once a month...  it'll all depend on when you guys are actually putting this train together

I'm not asking for a girl or two....... honestly....  I don't have the room for another rat!  *starts to cave in reading the blogs....*....nooo.. getting mice this weekend... can't.... I just lost a rattie not long ago... can't......

darn it... save a special girl for me if at all possible..... depending if you can get them around here or not.  if not, I'll help with any transport from Maryland, to further up north to NY, Syracuse region (which is only 1 1/2-2 hours away from Rochester)

HMMM...

I looked on Map Quest... it says to get to Johnson city I need to go through Knoxville.

Knoxville is about as far as I am willing to go...

But if you know another route from say Lexington Kentucky....

Let me know...

Cause unless I am wrong going through knoxville seems silly...

If I have to go via knoxvile... either knoxville or greenville work...

Ok then we will play the route by ear.... but Email Anna and tell you you are wanting a rat or what you are wanting.

There is a hold on the Rescue at THIS TIME.  However you might as well let her know that you have a home and let her know that you and I have worked out transport as well.

That way she does not need to worry about that.

I might be interested in a Blue female baby. I am in Washington. you can e-mail me at ratpal30@yahoo.com if you want.
I will need a transport group to get her to me though.

once again, I can do a Maryland-Pennsylvania-NY route.  I go to Syracuse, NY, which is only  about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from Rochester (I know a lot of people on this board live there).  Just saying I can help with transport
